28/2 - Juan Manuel "Dinamita" MARQUEZ vs. Juan "Baby Bull" DIAZ

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by TFFP, Feb 23, 2009.

  1. I think JMM is a lot tougher than he gets credit for.

People always credit him for his technical ability, quite rightly, but they often overlook the fact that he's one tough son of a *****.

It is a complete disgrace a quality fight like this is not picked up in the UK, yet there are these mismatches shown. I feel sorry for those in the UK.

I see a competitie 12 rounds with Marquez getting the nod.

JMM as the superior skill set and can control Diaz on the out side. It would get interesting if they go toe to toe, even if baby bull is more of an accumilation puncher than a one punch wonder.

    Marquez UD

This will be a great fight and will end in a UD for Marquez, I think.

JMM has the tools to counter Diaz all night. No doubt that Diaz will come looking for him and JMM will have plenty of chance to land, while making Diaz miss with his punches. JMM is tough, and Diaz lacks the power for JMM to seriously worry about a stoppage. JMM even has the power to possibly end it late on, but I wouldn't bank on it as Diaz is one tough cookie.

So UD Marquez, something in the region of 116-112.

I hope this is put on TV. I'd much rather watch this than both of the fights we had the past weekend.

I am not going to act like a spoiled girl over not getting the fight, I'm glad enough they picked up last weekends fights on Setanta.

I expect a UD for Marquez. Maybe a KO if Diaz struggles with weight but I don't see it.

I just hope the winner vacates the IBO belt. They already have enough good boxers as champions and the rankings look pretty spot on. The last thing we need is another organization to become respected.

I was going to have a fair old bet on Diaz, thinking the size would be just too much, he would wear JMM down - but I've moved into the JMM camp. I'm not sure BB has enough power to truly trouble JMM.

Diaz could well be a 130 lb'er, I hear he doesn't like the roadwork

But it's not his power that makes me favour him, it's the workrate

That said, Marquez would have possibly beaten Pacman twice if Pacman didn't have that equalising power

It's an intriguing fight that's for sure

Im with you on that one mate. Im surprised to see how one sided the poll is though. Dont get me wrong, JMM is a great fighter (beat Pac both times on my card) but Diaz might just be getting a bit over-looked by the majority here. Diaz lost to Campbell due to the fact he was blind in one eye and half blind in the other imo and I would tip him in a rematch anytime.

Its refreshing to see the best fighting the best and JMM is fast becoming the man with the best resume in boxing. :)

I am edging toward a JMM points victory, without being too confident, however.
