    Round 1

A furious pace is set early as Sanchez starts clapping Perez's ears with wide pincer shots with both fists, as Perez tries to burrow his way inside with short peppering punches down the middle. Sanchez leads Perez across the ring and draws him in with a lean forward into a turtle shell, and Perez obliges by winging several power punches at him as Sanchez looks to counter to the body. Big right hand to the chin followed by a left hook downstairs by Sanchez. Nonstop punching by both men. This is 100% pure action. Big body shots by both, Sanchez whipping a bit harder with his. Perez is punched into a corner with a series of 1-2 attacks. Sanchez jabs to the body and pecks his way forward and Perez catches him coming in with a head-rocking right hand. Sanchez takes wide steps around, circling Perez and littering his body with leather.

    10-9 Sanchez

    Round 2

Perez is aggressive early, backing Sanchez up but catching a lot of forearm. Sanchez's head is just too wide, however and he does take some head shots. Sanchez then turns the heat back the other way and sends Perez folding on the back foot as Sanchez just crashes into him with one bomb after another. Perez finally begins to lean into Sanchez to slow him down a bit and is shoulder-tackled into the ropes, where Sanchez tries to start breaking him down with high, tight head punches. When they separate a bit Sanchez uses his longer arms to whip the body of Perez. Sanchez is setting a hellish pace, putting multiple hooks together to soften up the biceps and face of Perez while mixing in straight 1-2s.

    20-18 SS

    Round 3

It slows down a bit, as Perez keeps popping off 3 and 4 punch combos of straight shots and then leaning into Sanchez with his elbows encasing his face protectively. Sanchez is still throwing bombs, leading with hammering rights up high and classic body hooks - but is a bit more measured now as he pressures Perez and tries to weave and body-check him away from the leaning clinch.

    Perez might have nicked that.

    29-28 Sanchez

    Round 4

Sanchez lines Perez up with a jab and then rips away with several hooks. Perez escapes to a corner and tries to get set to do some work on the poofy-haired freight train but Sanchez slams into him like a hurricane with one 1-2 after another, just soaking Perez with knuckle. Perez keeps leaning and retreating, and finally pays for his tactic when Sanchez times him pulling out with a perfect right hand and sends him involuntarily to one knee.

    THAT IS IT!!!!

Wow. That guy was 0-8-2. I hadn't noticed that.

He looked like a capable enough journeyman, if overmatched.

Oh well. Sanchez looked beastly, and needed a win as it's been almost a year since his last one.

As long as people don't unfairly hold him up to the standard of his namesake and uncle, Sal II could be a source of thrills and fan-favorite TV fighter for years to come. He'll certainly never be great...but his fights usually are. :good

I can't take someone named Sal Sanchez II seriously.

Hey, he's quietly making a living fighting his heart out on undercards. You can't hate on that.

He isn't like JCC Jr., who was headlining PPVs off a relative's name when he barely even had any passion for the sport whatsoever.

Quietly? He's named Salvador Sanchez II, he has the same haircut as the original Sal, and the same trunks?

I'm not hating on any professional fighters, it's just hard to take him seriously all things considered.

Here we go. Christian "Italiano" Esquivel makes the first defense of his WBC Silver bantamweight title against well-traveled Eduardo "Bambino" Garcia - who's been in with a much higher class.

Wow! This is already shaping up to be a better fight than the last! Both are just gunning it, with Esquivel slapping away with overhands and swinging his right arm underneath for some uppercuts as the shorter Garcia tucks his chin and blasts his way inside with quick jabs and powerful side-winding right hands. HUGE left hook to the jaw by Garcia! WAR!

    Silver could be changing hands.

10-9 Garcia based on harder shots and a little more defensive head movement.

    Round 2

Esquivel performs the sign of the cross over his heart as he leaves his corner.

The two flash jabs at each other and both show off some ducking and slipping ability in the center of the ring as they spin slowly and begin to string larger and larger bunches of punching together. BIG hook by Garcia sets up an offensive flurry that has Esquivel backed into the ropes but moments later they are back in the middle of the ring and GARCIA GOES DOWN from a short punch! He gets up fairly quickly but Esquivel smells bloods and pours several hooks on him, backing him up and tagging him from long range with his greater reach with both hands. Garcia is knocked into the ropes with a blizzard of crazy wild overhands and uppercuts (all while launching bombs at Esquivel's head in return and ultimately giving up and trying to clinch) and nearly bounces into a faceplant and is caught and rocked a few more times as he regains his balance using the top rope...looking very unsteady! The referee steps in and Esquivel has won!!! Garcia offers no resistance.

This was lots of fun - like a bootleg Mexican version of Hagler-Hearns.

They've now shown literally 20 replays of the stoppage, but not one of the initial knockdown that turned everything around.:twisted:

I was hoping to see what kind of punch it was and how he caught Garcia with it, as it happened so quickly (and at a point where Esquivel looked to be in major trouble).

Finally. It was a high chopping overhand right as Garcia was in between two wide punches, with both gloves hovering around his belt line. It thudded loudly against his skull and knocked him clear off his feet.
