Round 1

Low jab from Sigata. Ibarra jumps inside with a couple of off-balance hooks as Sigata floats backward. Sigata uses the full ring, hopping around and jabbing out regularly. Ibarra bends to his left and digs some hooks to the body. Quick 1-2 combos by Sigata on the move. Sigata leads with hooks high and low as Ibarra pressures. Sigata uses his quick feet and height to stay just off the end of Ibarra's punches but is also limiting the impact of his own counters from this range, just tapping. They come together and both miss a few hooks as each ducks and weaves in between punches. Big hooks to the body by Ibarra get cheers from the partisan Mexican crowd. Sigata starts falling in and flipping short hooks into Ibarra's stomach on the inside while shielding himself with his crooked right elbow. More misses from Ibarra as Sigata touches him up with a few counters on the inside.

Ibarra landed some really nice body shots, but the variety and volume of connected blows goes to Sigata.

Round 2

Sigata jabs and moves outside. Ibarra lunges in with his own jab, trying to train it on Sigata's forehead with an extra push off his back heel. Sigata is leaning into Ibarra's advances and resting a head on him to dig in with body shots. Ibarra tries to make it clear that this is his territory and drives Sigata back with some vicious hooks to the organ sack. Sigata is landing some brutally accurate shots from mid-range but not slowing Ibarra down - either Sigata's power is poor or Ibarra's chin is great (or somewhere right in the middle). Ibarra savagely hooks his way forward and catches Sigata between counters a few times with flush shots to the left side of his face, which already shows slight signs of bruising. These also set Sigata up for some unseen overhand rights. Blistering pace until the bell.

Evened up.

 

Round 3

Ibarra plasters Sigata with wild haymakers delivered without an instant's pause between them. Sigata backs up to the ropes and gets up on his toes, turning Ibarra and flurrying with lots of small tapping counters. Sigata springs away several feet whenever Ibarra dissolves his guard to try and load up on a big power punch. Ibarra hooks determinedly at the chin of Sigata and is able to batter his right arm out of the way and catch him with one, all while threatening with the right hand but falling just short with it. Sigata falls into the pocket and hooks with Ibarra, ducking and rising in rhythm with his punches. Ibarra is pushed to the ropes where Sigata shoeshines him. Ibarra forces his way back to the middle of the ring and ducks under a Sigata hook, and has his head pushed down. Ibarra has a big hook blocked but it knocks Sigata off his toes and forces him to scramble for balance.

Good work by both there.

 

Round 4

Unsurprisingly, Ibarra is the aggressor. Sigata still jettisons himself out of the danger zone every few seconds but is getting fewer of his jabs and right hands off before Ibarra's on top of him. Sigata holds his ground for a moment and flurries up the middle inside but is quickly chased off again by the hard-hooking Ibarra. Wild overhand right miss by Ibarra. Sigata hangs back at mid-outer range and spends a lot of nervous energy bobbing left and right and rolling his shoulders while Ibarra does nothing. Sigata blasts his way forward with underhands and collapses on top of Ibarra, digging to the body while leaning his taller frame against him.

Even, again. (Sigata 1 & 4, Ibarra 2 &3)

 

Round 5

Sigata lines up a nice 1-2 and then rinses and repeats as it strikes home with a deliciously violent crack on the briefly exposed face of Ibarra. The Mexican labors to get his guard reassembled but is getting picked apart by the long-armed Japanese counter-puncher. Ibarra finally gets his bearings and starts forcing Sigata back as hooks fly high and often from his firm center of balance. Leather is traded consistently but at a slightly slower pace than in the early rounds.

 

Round 6

Both men miss from a couple of paces apart as Sigata backs up and keep his arms slashing diagonally through the air with uppercuts serving as a smokescreen to cover his trail. Ibarra just steadily puts one foot in front of the other and hooks, hooks, hooks. Sigata is caught a couple of times as Ibarra gains on him and times a few hooks inside his counters. Sigata starts to straighten his punches and bounces his lone jabs and 1-2 off the forearms of Ibarra, who gives no quarter. Ibarra uses his own jab to lesser effect with his shorter reach, but does keep close enough to Sigata to push through some right hands and bean Sigata with some hooks above the ear. Body hook by Ibarra. Sigata is backed up almost constantly and pays for it when he settles to trade with Ibarra before the bell.

Even again.

 

Round 7

Ibarra is on his man, popping the right hand over and over. Sigata tries to push his stringy arms up into Ibarra's face to annoy him but Ibarra is all business as he hooks Sigata back. Sigata braves the rocky waters and takes some punishment as he shoulders his way in and gloms onto Ibarra. Sigata opens up with some good body shots and short hooks to the face while pinning himself up against Ibarra. Every few seconds Ibarra explodes with a hook or two of his own that pushes Sigata out a couple of inches away where he prefers him but Sigata keeps attaching himself like a magnet and blasting Ibarra with short punches (and downward strikes after lifting his long arms high).

Round 8

Sigata is taking quick double-steps to his left instead of backward, hitting Ibarra on every half-turn and trying to dodge a slew of jabs. Sigata is leaving his chin dangling unprotected right in the middle where Ibarra can reach it with jabs and right hands while leaning in to deliver bent-knee hooks and curling rights to the body, and powerful long-armed overhands to Ibarra's face. Ibarra jabs as Sigata again forces his way inside and crowds him with pesky volume punching. Ibarra crashes through Sigata's guard with a straight right hand. Sigata eats more right hands as he comes forward and tags Ibarra in several spots below the elbows.

Sigata just has no power.

 

Round 9

Ibarra leads with his right. Sigata steps into hooks and hook-arounds with the right to Ibarra's body and quickly slinks out. Sigata is getting off one or two shots at a time whenever he comes in for a short stay inside. Ibarra lands a stiff jab after anticipating where Sigata's chin would arrive but eats a strong lead right from the insistent taller man. Sigata pushes his way in with two and three punch combos now, up and down. Ibarra is just cracking him with left hooks and 1-2s that are much more damaging, but getting vastly outworked. Sigata digs in and puts some stank on several hooks to the body but just can't hurt Ibarra.

 

Round 10

Ibarra comes out with hard right hands and uppercuts that catch and stagger Sigata. Ibarra thinks he has him hurt and pours on the pressure, letting his hands go and keeping his feet in forward march. Sigata suddenly drills him with several jabs and a couple of hard crosses, using his head as a speedbag. Ibarra is now missing hooks as Sigata blocks and weaves inside. Sigata throws combos on his way in and out and uses a lot of defensive movement. Ibarra just puts his guard up and tries to catch Sigata moving with his right hand. Sigata is landing much better. Ibarra tries cheating an uppercut under and around Sigata's left jab but just winds up punching him in the armpit. Sigata pushes Ibarra to the ropes and works the body diligently. Sigata plants his gloves on Ibarra's trunk line, pushes off for a bit of leverage and wails to the body. Ibarra looks helpless trying to hit back from this position.

It's an even numbered round...so guess what the score is.... Weird pattern.

 

Round 11

Sigata throws several punches, with his legs looking a bit shaky but splayed out so he can maximize his blunt force. Ibarra is driven back and into a shell by the constant volume but still getting some short blows to land on the wide open head Sigata presents to him. Big 1-2 by Sigata. Body hooks by Sigata. Ibarra on the ropes trying to fight off. Sigata slides him down to a corner and they clinch, and get broken up. Ibarra leads with a right and gets countered with powerless slaps. A pair of HARD right uppercuts to the belly by Ibarra. Sigata responds with about ten unanswered punches in combination. Ibarra is blocking a lot but also getting his head rocked by the odd right hand with full torque and extension on it.

Sigata 105-104

 

Round 12

Sigata throws a bunch of straight punches but they flail a bit off-center. Ibarra clubs away with hooks and plunks Sigata on the chin with short uppercuts. Sigata hooks to the body and tries a right hand upstairs but his arm lands softly against Ibarra's shoulder as Ibarra gives his face a refreshing knuckle bath. Sigata gets his head snapped back and his eyes puffed up by Ibarra's short punches. Sigata flurries a few times but is tired. Ibarra takes his time leaning back (shifting his balance onto his back foot) and timing Sigata with hard right uppercuts to the chin. More and more uppercuts catch the tall and swaying Japanese fighter. Sigata flurries and flurries but is hitting mostly arm.
