Jhonny Garcia vs. William Urina RBR

Boxeo Telemundo is very low production value (they don't broadcast in HD and their cameras are barely in focus) but if they consistently put on good competitive match-ups it will be interesting to see if they can rival Solo Boxeo in the same time slot.

 

Round 1

Garcia jabs and shuffles to his left. Urina lays back, coiled to strike. Urina unleashes a quick right hand over the top and pulls right back behind his guard. Urina is looking to explode with fast punching bursts to surprise Garcia, while Garcia tries to coax him into more of a steady-flowing boxing match with jabs and ear-boxing combos. Garcia misses a lead left hook. They trade quick salvos of punches a few times, with Urina's wild shots getting there a little faster but Garcia landing last every time. Urina clearly has Garcia's respect, as even feints are making him flinch.

Round 2

Urina is fighting southpaw, leading with his line drive right jab and staying behind his guard. They get into a couple of wild exchanges, with Garcia slugging away underhanded and Urina tossing his fists straight down the middle. They hook together and Urina seems a bit more affected. Garcia falls in with a 1-2 and Urina steps around with a counter as his opponent's gloves scrape the side of his face. Urina is leaning in and whipping Garcia's body with left uppercuts. Garcia is trying to flash his hands in Urina's face and keeps falling into clinches. Wild hook mises by Garcia. A hard uppercut by Garcia is caught and pinned between Urina's elbows. They punch together at short range, neither getting off very crisply but both busy.

His name is listed everywhere as "Johnny Garcia" but the WBC FECARBOX super flyweight champion has "Jhonny" printed on his trunks (like Jhonny El Raton Gonzalez) so we'll go with that as the official spelling, bueno?

 

Round 3

Urina flicks his right jab. Garcia hangs back. Garcia waits for a break in the jabs and lunges in with a lead left hook that misses. Urina opens up and Garcia lands another left hook flush on the face. Urina clubs with power punches trained dead center on Garcia's face and falls repeatedly into the clinch. Garcia hooks to the body and wings a right hand around the other side to try and cut the middle out from Urina. Garcia pressures him into the ropes and Urina slips while throwing and missing huge punches. Both miss with read hand attacks out of their opposing stances. They clinch. Urina lands a 1-2 to the navel area and falls right into a clinch. He is warned to keep them up but those looked clean. Urina is now leaving his right jab as a trap for Garcia and stepping back (and snapping the arm out) every time Garcia advances. The referee warns both for leading with their heads on the way into clinches.

Round 4

Urina digs to the body with fast little drumrolls. Garcia wings wide punches around but mostly catches the side of Urina's head with his inner elbow and forearms. Garcia ducks with his left arm held up defensively and rises into a clinch as Urina comes forward punching. Urina lands some jabs. Wild right hands from Garcia hit shoulder. Urina misses a right hook but then lands a three punch combo, 1-2-1 that hurts Garcia and backs him up in a bit of a stinky-armed chicken dance. Urina slaps him back with an open-fingered right hand across the face and then spins him to the canvas with his right hand while stepping around him. The ref rules it a slip as Urina gets right back up. Urina stalks and Garcia falls into clinches with 1-2 combos on the way inside. Clubbing overhand right from Garcia. Urina goes DOWN, legitimately this time off a sternum-cracking left hook up and underneath (with a follow-up left hook to the jaw landing as he's on the way down already). Garcia throws wild frenzied shots haphazardly as Urina hugs him.

Round 5

Garcia is just winging punches like a madman. Urina tries to stay disciplined and box him away behind a right jab. Urina cracks him with an overhand left after pushing away from a head-to-head lean. They get right in close and fix their gloves on each other's faces, taking their time to set up hard knocks. They come apart just enough to each reach down and rip hard hooks to the body. Urina leads with a left uppercut and has found his boxing range. He blocks the wild punches of Garcia with a turtle shell and counters him hard and often. Garcia staggers from a right hook.
