A poster I completely respect as long as Roy is not involved. He gets all silly. But he has great knowledge overall. I think his Roy hatred is half for show.
But those were all trinkets.. Roy was never lineal champion in ANY weightclass. And beating future or past lineal champs doesn't count for anything in Rico's mad world.
To be honest, I can't remember seeing him have an in depth debate on another subject. I'd love to see it. By the way, when was the last time you went on the classic? There's some great posters on there.
I have not been on there in a while. But I agree, there are posters that know more on the sport than I could ever hope to learn.. I admit I am a little high on Golovkin and Kovalev at the moment.
at least this one is debatable. ray leonard vs golovkin at middleweight is not debatable (yes, i know leonard ranks higher all-time p4p as of now.. but at middleweight? golovkin terry norris' him). maybe golovkin is the first one to crack jones chin?
it is to me, without a doubt.. by ko at that. leonard was not ever a campaigning middleweight by any stretch of the imagination. he was never a great middleweight.. or hardly even ever a middleweight at all. 'didn't say that golovkin ranks higher p4p all-time or anything like that. terry norris worked over (old) leonard at 154 but he still doesnt rank higher all-time. golovkin would do the same. c'mon now
I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that Ray could have flurried and then got on his bike and stole the rounds like he did against Hagler. We don't know if GGG could have coped with that kind of speed.
ray didn't show enough footwork after the mid-rounds.. like, none. 'hard to believe that hagler blew it against that once-in-a-lifetime, less-than-middleweight leonard. leonard is not, was not, could not ever beat a prime great middleweight. his prime was welterweight, by far. still makes him one of the best ever, but not a middleweight. golovkin 2015 > leonard 1987. golovkin would ko him.
