I would say that Shane was as fast if not faster than Cotto even in his past prime performance.

Shane doesn't move like PBF, but he is highly regarded for his ability to mimic fighters styles perfectly. I don't think Mosley would have a problem adapting his movements.

Mosley is a boxer with power. I wouldn't call him an all out slugger like you are saying, he does have serious boxing IQ.

Agreed on the floyd-mosley fight outcome.

The same thing he did against mosley. He got caught with a punch and then the second half of the fight shane was chasing cotto around the ring.

PBF is infamous for allowing people in, kind of like trying to test his body. DLH, Hatton & Baldo got in and did 'work', effective or not, to PBF's body. Do you think PBF will change this tactic against cotto... Probably so

Mimic fighters? ... ha ha ... I can mimic Tyson but that doesn't mean **** if we ever fought. I disagree I think that Mosley would have problems adjusting because he's never faced a fighter of that caliber - DLH was right in font of him and didn't use different angles. DLH tried to adopt the Mayweather style and when he did it - it confused Mosley and caused Shane to shut down and worry about Oscar's attack - he couldn't find a target to hit and he stop throwing punches.

Seeing something on tape is different than actually being in front of it. I think Mosley would find it very hard. If you forgot before Shane moved to welter, he was offered a shot at Mayweather (at lightweight) declined and now is talking about he's the one that could beat Mayweather? Why didn't he do it when the offer was on the table?
He can't beat Mayweather and he knows it.

Mosley took some good shots from cruz and estrada -- even though he won, he showed me that he has no defense. Now his chin is granite but you can't take precise shots from PBF and expect to win. He'll just pick Shane apart en rounte to a UD.

thats because FLoyd knows how to neutralize the effect of those shots by twist his body. plus he does 500 sit ups a day.

I think Floyds body attack is better than Cotto -- it gets over looked but its effective.

His sparring partners Chop, Baldo, L. N'dou, all said that Floyd is a great body puncher.

Cotto vs PBF start off a chess match and end up a backyard brawl. Tatically speaking Cotto has seen his share of quick versitle fighters and PBF has seen his share of body banging pressure fighters both men are intellegent and adaptable both men contain high boxing IQ's both men are excellent counter punchers and ring generals the biggest gap between them is in the department of defense.....I truly feel the winner will need to implement a trend setting jab initiate the attack and counter effectively....this fight will be close.

If this fight starts off as a chess match, I doubt it will end up a backyard brawl. Unless of course Cotto can somehow rack up points in the early rounds by outboxing Mayweather(doubtful). The jab would be improtant for Cotto. He doesn't have tremendous handspeed, and his right hand still needs some work. Against a fighter like Floyd, he'll need a good jab to setup his offense. He should focus particuarly on throwing double jabs to avoid being countered. This wouldn't be the case with Floyd. He's got tremendous handspeed, and is equally effective with both hands. He can lead with just about every punch. Given Cotto's defensive deficiencies(particuarlly against right hands), I see Floyd being able to land on Cotto without setting up his offense via the jab.

Toe to toe with the proper distance to execute right hands PBF has the sure advantage. Cotto will not look to out box PBF per-say but he will box accordingly, effeciently and effectively. Cotto will not try and battle PBF on boxing ability he will conserve his attack until he himself creates the proper distance. Cotto's best chance will be to time PBF while in the pocket, PBF is known for having a nearly flawless defensive stance while in the pocket but he will find it imperitive to open up and not allow Cotto to attack with to many combos on the inside. This will allow exchanges between the two where Cotto power will be an important factor, his dedication towards the midsection will allow more opening up top for Cotto. I noticed throughout PBFs carrier the only fighter that was able to find some succuess was also a master counter puncher and an excellent inside operator and that was JLC. Other fighter did not understand the importance of distance....why try to out box PBF when you can position yourself to out counter him using his vast skills against himself and causing him to either exchange in a battle of wills or leave him in a defensive shell merely picking at you in spots. I get the chills thinking about how great a fight it will be.

The only reason I feel it will mature into a brawl is because both fighter will become desperate for momentem leading to more offensive focus thus creating a battle of you hit me I can hit you better and harder....leaving game plans at the door and merely fighting off instinct and testosterone.
