29 Feb.. Where is the daily Mayweather Cotto thread

I do see him getting knocked out ... because he doesn't have the neccessary entagables to get him through a 12 round decision. I'm not going to get much into it but lets just say precision punching, a questionable chin, and lack of a serious threat (on Cotto's end) will = equal an early night for Mayweather.

 

I was talking about on Cotto's end ... Cotto has never faced a guy with the skill of PBF. Mayweather has seen plenty of carbon copies of Cotto rather it be early in his career or in the amateurs. Cotto can't find any sparring partners that could do Mayweather's style effectively.

Cotto's game plan to apply pressure is ridiculous and will not do anything but result in him getting knocked out. 39 opponents all thought that pressure was the answer and all of them tasted defeat, 25 of them (most recently Ricky Hatton) got knocked out.

 

On another note Cotto isn't fast enough to land effectively and to counter not only Mayweather's fast precise punches, but his quick fast twitch movements.

Mayweather faints a jab then throws a leaping left hook. He faints the hook and throws a straight right down stairs.

 

But I don't want guys to think that I hate Cotto, i'm a huge fan, but there's something about him that tells me he will soon lose. A loss at this point of his career will not effect him at all. Its not like Paul Williams losing to Quintana or Margarito losing to Williams. A couple of his former opposition went on to get belts and are on the rise making his victories over them look better. More than likely when he loses to Floyd, Floyd will vacate that WBA strap and Cotto will be first in line to fight for it.

I said the same thing when I predicted Calzaghe over Lacy and look Lacy is still top 5 rated super middleweight and after a couple more fights will be back in title contention.

 

Floyd said after his fight with Gatti -- (Cotto, Hatton, and Vivian Harris were all present - Harris fighting on the undercard)

That he would tap Cotto on his chin and knock him out and he also said that Top Rank wouldn't let Cotto fight him... he's been protected for all his career.

That was then ...

After saying that PBF was the best fighter he's seen out of his 40 years in boxing since Ali ... now Bob Arum is saying that Mayweather is scared of Cotto.

Cotto being ushered throughout his career now has a couple legit fighters on his resume is saying that he can beat Mayweather and that Mayweather is making excuses.... to my knowledge no one has asked Mayweather about a fight w/ Cotto.

 

quintana has only had 2 fights since cotto, when cotto was fighting those guys he was also on the way up, cotto only entered the p4p ranks after beating mosley.

 

I seen no interviews official or unofficial w/ PBF and someone asking him about a potential fight with Cotto.... not of recent.

I seen one with Cotto but that wasn't to Cotto's advantage considering he has 2 fights lined up

 

It wouldve been interesting to see Julio v Cotto -- if Julio had beaten Quintana.

 

Kellerman had a point ... Quintana is a good guy to match up against an up and coming fighter. They would take him lightly and lose. He could probably beat a Margarito ... Cintron ... or a Berto ... but as far as a rematch w/ Cotto out of the question. He was scared of Cotto before the opening bell and probably still is.
