Agreed but if Cotto is in the late rounds down on points he will get desperate and go for broke. Unlike DLH, I think Cotto would rather get knocked out than stop fighting and hope for a close decision.

 

The decision won be close if it goes to the scorecards - one thing that Mayweather is good at is racking up early points and cruising to a victory. PBF has more decision victories than Cotto and is great at racking up points. Despite the SD he got from DLH he actually never came close to losing a professional fight.

 

racking up early points like he did with judah? if i remember correctly he lost the first few rounds! same in the hatton fight!

 

Floyd was up 5 rounds to 4 and 6 to 3 and thats not including the point deduction.
Why did Hattons corner urge him to throw punches and kept him aware that he was falling behind.

 

In the Judah fight I gave rounds 1,2 and 4 to Judah. One ref gave Judah 4 rounds, one gave him 3 and the other gave him 1. So overall, Judah did relatively well in the early rounds(he did nothing from rounds 5-12, the two hardest shots he landed were illegal). However, in the Hatton fight, I only gave Hatton round 5. Two judges scored it the same, the other gave rounds 5 and 3 to Hatton. So overall, Hatton did not do all that well in the early rounds. He barely landed any clean punches and was eating too flush shots from Floyd.

 

Cotto said himself without exactly saying it, that Judah was a front runner. He said that if Mosley can get past the 5th or 6th round that he would win the fight. I agree ... Judah is a front runner (ala DLH) and he couldn't last into the later rounds. He stopped punching after the 7th against Cotto.

 

Cotto v Mayweather
would be a re-play of Hatton v Mayweather w/ the same outcome. Yeah Hatton was a lil overmatched, but what can Cotto do any different than Hatton.

I actually think that Hatton is faster than Cotto and Hatton was in superb conditioning.

I think Floyd will neutralize Cotto's money punch the left hook and straight left jab (like he did with DLH) and knock Cotto out.

I keep saying this as well Cotto can't defend the straight right (ala Arturo Gatti) he got hurt with the right from Mosley, Torres, and Chop Chop (right hook)
Cotto will get picked apart and in the later rounds he's going to be concern with defense and will abandon his offense.

Cotto showed that he's flawed -
For Floyd there's just a hope and prayer that he folds under pressure - after 10 years someone should change their approach.

After the Hatton v Floyd fight, Billy Graham said that he thought that from what he watched on tape that Ricky could fight some openings and man handle Floyd. But as he and others have found out its different once you get into the ring.

Cotto will be intimidated from the intros - hearing about all of those championships - undefeated record - and knowing that he's the challenger and not the champion will surprise Cotto. Credentials that Cotto can't match and the size of Floyd will also intimidate Cotto. He's shorter in height, arm length, and shoulder width. Yeah he might weight more outside the ring but the only thing that means is that he has to cut alot of weight during training.

 

I'm sorry, but you've lost all credibility saying Mayweather/Cotto would be identical to Mayweather/Hatton.

Don't forget his really tight fight against Lovemore N'dou. He barely won that one and was running the last two rounds.
