29 Feb.. Where is the daily Mayweather Cotto thread

You know both are going to bring their "A" game because they both want the recognition. Cotto is a hunted man ...

If he wins then there's no doubt that Cotto's well deserving.

I can see Cotto v Margarito going down to the wire and possibley ending by KO. (either fighter)

I can see Cotto v Cintron being a good fight too!!

Man if either of those fights happen and end dramatically then you can sure as hell see a huge fight at a big venue. (more likely Yankee Stadium, UNLV's football stadium, Dodger Stadium, Rose Bowl, anywhere)

If Margarito gets past Cintron then he will defeat Cotto -

If Cotto happens to win against Margarito then he has a mandatory of Joshua Clottey waiting for him and he could possibly lose that one.

 

If Cotto can get past those guys then he'll damn sure fight PBF -- I doubt PBF steps down from a guy he knows he can beat. Why do you think he fought hatton so fast.

 

Who has Cotto fought and knocked out that was of legit staus?

He couldn't even knockout Malignaggi for christ sake. (a guy with 5 KO's total on his resume)

Floyd would have never let this guy get into the fight

**Ricardo Torres (Don't even think about it)
Carlos Quintana (slightly credible)
*Shane Mosley (hasn't won a title since 04' and far past his prime)
*Zab Judah (bam-bam, 1-2-uppercut...in other words a ****ing gatekeeper)

**-knocked down Cotto
***-couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag - yet took Cotto the distance.

 

I like Quintana but he doesn't stack up to the elite welterweights of the world -- non of those guys I mentioned above were ranked top 10 in their divisions by the ring magazine or ESPN.com or Boxrec.com or any of the 3 major sanctioning bodies.

*DLH (forget about it and the fight was for DLH's WBC strap - he was rated #1 by the ring at 154)
*Gatti (undisputed blood and guts warrior and the WBC champ at the time they fought)
*Corrales (rated #1 at 130)
*Castillo (Ring Magazine champion at the time they fought)
*Hatton (still undisputed 140 champ and only loss came at the hands of PBF)
* Carlos Baldomir (who hadn't lost in 7 yrs previous to his fight w/ mayweather and considered the universally recognized undisputed champion at 147)
* Jesus Chavez (top 10 superfeather )
* Genero Hernandez (undefeated at 130 - only loss came at 135)

All whom held titles at their respected weight classes and were ranked in the top 10 by the ring magazine and other sanctioning bodies.

 

This is taking it too far. The low blows definately affected Zab. However, he would've lost anyway. He had no defense for Cotto's left hand. Cotto in no way ducked Zab. Zab was beaten pretty decisively. Maybe if he beats Mosely, then he can get a rematch with Cotto. Without a credible win though, I don't see how Cotto is obliged to grant Zab a rematch

 

Floyd is 18-0 in title fights and has had a championship belt for 10 years.

All WBC (except for the bull**** IBF belt but no one cared about that)
the lineage has stayed with him from jr lightweight to super welterweight.

No other boxer has did that - obtained belts from different weight classes but have them all be from the same sanctioning body.

 

just tell me assassin one of those fighters who had any clout in the fight game?

who amoung those names have ever headlined a venue?

who amoung them have had ever beaten a champion to get a belt?

No Mosley (past his prime and hadn't beat anyone of any signifance since DLH)
