Hi guys, had my 2nd fight on the weekend. I won a decision and I am the one in blue. Unfortunately the fight is separated into rounds which is a bit annoying. Round 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0nX0Rq5xJ0 Round 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0Sf88KrrXc Round 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JE6za5aoCrI Here are some things I noticed: jab more, especially on way in.. I'm leading with the right hand too often Put more pressure/punches together (I was a bit worried about gassing because I took this fight on pretty short notice.) More head movement particularly when i'd worked out the timing of his jab Need to sit down on my punches
Age, weight, opponent # of fights??? good effort... need to learn to keep your chin down when punching or you are gonna get counterd and ko'd
Enjoyed the fight, you have the potential to go very far Things done well: 1. The stance, hand high, chin low, the rear heel off the ground 2. Movements: nice bounce in and out 3. Punches,: nice fast check-hook when you move backwards, reasonable straight punching technique without over extention 4. Pressure and stamina Things to work on 1. The first round especially you were chasing your opponent instead of keeping the center of the ring and cutting the ring 2. Confuse more your opponent, establish a response from a punch, say jab, feint the jab and hit him with the leading right. Show punch to the body – hit to the head. You need more elements of surprise in your game 3. I did not see many hooks. You were throwing lots ot 1-2′s, the guy was covering up from the straight punches, a hook would be very natural to throw Hope this helps
That's great, thanks for the reply.. Agree with all your advice, especially the hooks, for some reason I seemed to just stop throwing them
I would like to fight as often as possible but realistically I will probably only have 2 more fights this year
Quick observation. Good work rate throughout the fight. Light on your feet and you forced the action for the most part. I saw you going straight back when your opponent came at you----this makes you easy to follow and keep getting hit--sidestep when going back and potshot your opponent. I notice a lot of weak wide right hand punches. If your opponent knew how to throw the left hook counter, it may have been a different outcome. Keep the chin tucked into the chest, especially when going backwards. That's a nice target for a pursuing opponent. Overall, good effort.
Nice footwork, you kept your balance most of the time, heel off ground, good stamina and technique, but your combinations were predictable, besides the fact you were always looking to the area you were going for. Other than that, congratulations, it was a nice fight!
