**** no. KP was up at the count of 2. Did what he needed to do to survive & before the round was over, he was fighting back.

Then he came out & won the 3rd round.

Possible but not likely. Pavlick got up pretty quick.

No, because it wasn't the ref, it's HBO. Pavlik is the new middleweight face of HBO, and is going to make them a fortune. The ref had his instructions: Pavlik does Not get tko'd. Taylor would have had to cut his head off for the ref to stop it. Any other ref would have had the same instructions. Cynical, but almost certainly true.

pavlik was lucky it was smoger.

smoger tends to let fights go.

a british ref would have jumped it i reckon. :yep

HAHA people blame the ref for Pavlik surviving the round. How about blaming Taylor for not being able to finish him off? He had plenty of time, and Pavlik was pretty hurt - so why blame the ref? Obviously Pavlik wasn't too hurt to continue..

Funny post.I'm sure thar explains the lopsided judge's cards in Taylor's favor, as well.

Perhaps some refs would have stepped in when Pavlik was stumbling with his back turned. He wasn't in a position to fight back or defend himself. But thank God for Smoger.

 Rock0052? Are you so clueless or naive as to think that HBO and $ don't have a Huge impact on the actions of the ref (and the judges)? Wake up, and while you're at it, read the article on the front page of ESB today about ripoff decisions, in particular, the Teddy Atlas quote.

There's a good chance that it would have. After he got up - he got hit a couple of time and fell off balance - with his arms whaling through the air. At that point another Ref would have probably stopped the fight.

But I'm glad that it wasn't stopped. I was going for Taylor and by the fight continuing - we got on of the best fights of the year. I may be a big fan of Taylor's - but I'm a bigger fan of the sport.

I still take Taylor in the rematch!

watch the second round again and you will see what smoger saw.

taylor iniating clinches and holding on the inside having punched himself out.

There are some refs who might have stopped it, but it would have been premature. Pavlik was up at a count of 2, even hurt he still threw 60 punches landing about 30% (very low for pav, but still respectable.) By the end of the round JT was initiating the clinches, and Pavlik handed Taylor a serious ass whippin' in the 3rd. Smoger did a good job.

The only one who is clueless here has got to be you...anybody here could tell you clearly that taylor was hbo's cashcow so to speak, how do u figure pavlik would get any unfair advantage in that fight as he was thought to be overrated by most. You definitely haven't seen taylor's last 5 fights then.
