Then why did many american boxers win Olympic gold? If your eastern bloc was so great, why did Ali, Foreman, frazier, mercer, Lewis, tillman etc win heavy/surperheavy gold?

I forgot about that. Olympic boxing can't be "domestic" Ali beat a polish southpaw with an extensive amateur background.

Ray Leonard fought a skilled Russian with an unmistakable Soviet style all the way back in 76

So since the 1970s, the U.S. has won the Olympic super heavyweight boxing gold ONCE in 1984, Tyrell Biggs did it . But so you know , the 1984 Olympics were boycotted by Cuba and the USSR.

Olympic boxing isn't the same as pro boxing. That being said, I feel the United States was better at pro boxing and Olympic boxing even during the Cold War, the Eastern Bloc nations were still learning or not as good as the United States.
I think even during the Cold War, the United States had a superior Boxing and Olympic boxing infrastructure than the Soviet Union. I think it's more about them playing catch-up to the United States than anything else. Over time they got better, as did most of the world so the United States no longer was the only nation able to produce good boxers (meaning they won't dominate the sport). Even when the Iron Curtain fell the Soviets had a lot to learn about professional boxing or Olympic boxing, America was still better, obviously not anymore, but it is now 2025, not 1990. It took years for them to learn to be at this current level.

If the Soviet Bloc fighters were allowed to compete in pro boxing since the 1950's, they would have created great pro boxers, but at that point they were still learning, so it would not have been such a one sided dominance in favor of the Soviets. Both America and the USSR would be creating good elite boxers, getting the best of each other over time. It is also more about the world getting better and catching on in terms of boxing prowess, not necessarily only because a region of the world wasn't allowed to compete.

Even today you see when fighters are allowed to go pro they still hold the Olympics in higher regard prestige wise. We have some threads wondering why fighters from ex USSR wait so long to go pro and its because they grew up dreaming of winning Olympic gold medal while American boxing prospects see it as a pit stop like college.

Of course, western boxing fans will deny Usyk's greatness and they will belittle his success, because he is from the East and destroyed their best fighters.

I love that boxers from the East are dominating boxing nowadays and I also love to see western boxing fans claiming "this is a weak era" to belittle Eastern champions.

Absolute tripe Usyk is praised all over this forum and from a majority of the fans all around the world. You're just straight up lying to bring a nationalistic issue into a individual sport because you're the one with that issue no one else.
