Chagaev beat a better version of Valuev than Haye did, and he did it more convincingly too. The fact Chag also got beaten by Wladamir doesn't drop him below Haye, because we all know Haye would get the living **** stomped out of him by Wlad too - Haye knows this for a fact as well which is why he refuses to fight Wlad. So Chagaev must be ranked higher than Haye. Povetkin beat Chambers, who is better than Valuev or Ruiz. Adamek and Haye have both fought one legitimate top ten heavy (Valuev and Arreola) and Adamek won with a much more dominant performance. I can't see Haye any higher than 6th.
exactly. There needs to be a mechanism that forces fighters to undergo a given number of top ranked competitors before being given a chance at the belt. the sport is shooting itself in the foot by not mandating this logical requirement from its fighters. Basically long term credibility is sacrificed for short term financial gains.
I'd say 3. David Haye. Has shown himself adept at heavyweight, not fought great competition yet, but has dealt with those he has fought pretty well. The only bloke at heavyweight I think has a decent chance against the Klitschko brothers. 4. Ruslan Chagaev. Has been a top level heavyweight for several years now, though fighting spoarodically due to illness. Got dominated by Wladimir Klitschko which was to be expected given the size difference and him taking the fight at short notice. I thought he looked pretty good in his last fight but it was only Kali Meehan. 5. Tomasz Adamek. I've had my doubts about him seeing as he was a lightheavy for years but he's doing a good job as a heavy, suprised how well he handled Cris Arreola, who's not massively talented but is a proper heavyweight not a small guy or and old shot heavy, so in these lean times that makes him the 5th best heavy in the world 6. Alexander Povetkin. Seemed to be making progress with wins over Chris Byrd and Eddie Chambers but those were a couple of years ago now, god knows what he's doing, if he doesn't want to dive into an unwinnable fight with Wlad yet fair enough but shouldn't he be trying to up his game by fighting some better heavyweights? Like Adamek's doing, continually upgrading his competition. He's a good talent but hasn't done much in the last couple of years so I put in below the other 3.
