Anybody heard of it? I have cracky joints and a friend of mine suggested that I take this. I am on Glucosamine/Chondroitin, but it does not seem to be working.
The fat you really want is the omega 3 type. Just get some flaxseed oil, it's cheap as ****. How long have you been taking glucosamine?
First off, thank you for responding. I have been on Glucosamine for about 4 months, and still no changes. My joints don't hurt at all, but they are cracky as hell. I live in a very small town where the local doctor doesn't have a clue as to what he is doing, so I can't really go there for help (I did, didn't work out). Im only 17 yrs. old, so I want to fix this problem now before I have problems in the future (I'll be 18 yrs. old on the 22nd of this month).
I don't know what's causing your joints to crack, it could be the result of an inflammation. It could also be wear and tear, but at age 17 that seems unlikely. Are all your joints "cracky" or just the knees for example? Omega 3 fatty acids are strongly anti-inflammant, so I'd definitely try it, get some fish oil or flaxseed oil. Omega 3-6-9 oil is a waste of money, omega 6 and 9 fatty acids are abundant in a normal diet it's the omega 3 you want. I have terrible knees, supplements definitely helped me. I use flaxseed / fish oil, glucosamine / chondoitrine, whey protein and a multi vitamin / mineral. Your regular diet needs to be good otherwise adding supplements is not going to help. I also eat a clove of garlic everyday, which is also a strong anti-inflammant, just to name an example. Some vegetables and fruits also, etc.
Oh boy let's see, my knees, knuckles, left wrist, neck when I roll it, both elbows although the left is definitely more noticeable, where my legs meet my feet, and a few others. Falling apart I guess.
You really ought to find a way to get checked out. The good news is that it could be something completely fixable. I had bad knee pain a few years ago, but got it checked out and nothing permanent was wrong. All my ligaments and everything were fine. I just had some really tight muscles and a bit muscle imbalance which was causing the knee to track wrong, learned the right exercises to do in PT and they are much better now. Even if you have to drive a bit it might be worth it. Get with your parents (i am sure youre under their insurance) and see what is available within driving distance around you.
You're 17 years old,so you are probably still growing. Your joints, tendons and ligaments are probably growing at different rates. So every time you move one of your tendons or ligaments is moving against each other causing the cracking. At your age ,I doubt this is arthritis. On the other hand there is no harm in improving your diet . Personally,I take EPA cod liver oil supplements for Omega 3 in my diet.
