Of the Three big British fights coming up, ie Haye - Mormeck ,Calzaghe - Kessler and Hatton - Mayweather.... Presuming you want the Brits to win in all 3 cases, who do you most want to win their big fight, and who do you least care about of the 3. Mine would be 1.Haye - because of the excitement It will bring as he assaults the heavies as the undisputed cruiser champ. 2.Hatton - because he is a big underdog and will make him an ATG 3.Calzaghe - cements his status as one of the GOAT at super middle. Am less concerned with Calzaghe as he has only a couple more fights left, whereas Hatton and particularly Haye have their whole careers
Sorry guys I posted this on the British Forum and presumed it would not be on the main page. So Its addressed to all the Brit fans, or those supporting all three Brits
You've missed out the Macarrinelli / Sellers mega-fight, but out of the three there you've listed Haye by a mile.
Haye first and foremost, the Calzaghe just behind. After that, id like to see Hatton win of course, but its not that concerning to me as i just want to see the best fighters rukle the roost, thats why i think pbf will win.
I'm with you exactly: Haye is the most exciting and is going to do the most to reinvigorate boxing. Hatton I think will lose, but could start a whole new thing in the lighter weight divisions if he could knock Floyd off his perch. Calzaghe is almost at the end of his career, and hasn't tried hard enough to make the big fights. It annoys me as well how he demands to be thought of as so great, and is disappointed that he isn't, when he fights people like Manfredo. As well, it could even be better for the division for Kessler to win, to start a new era there. There are plenty of fights out there for him: Hopkins, Miranda, Pavlik, to name a few. Calzaghe would probably call it a day after one more.
Hatton will probably be finished after his next fight. Perhaps a Witter swansong in Manchester at 140lbs.
Finished? I don't think Mayweather will put a beating on him. If Mayweather wins is by running and a boring decision.
Calzaghe is far ahead of Hatton, let alone Haye. Calzaghe has world class skills. One of the most balanced fighters ever, thats why he has been there so long. OK, maybe lack of opposition, no-one wanting to fight him, and crap WBO mandatories. Remember, Haye may fall apart against Mormeck, Haye may never be world champion, let alone a Heavyweight champ. Calzaghe has fights where people come to fight him. Hatton beats up on the older smaller ones. A good, bigger one will beat him. Haye was exposed a while ago. Stamina!
Haye may have been exposed a while ago, but more recent evidence would suggest that he's learnt from that.
