Watched this fight again to get me excited for this weekends prizefighter.

I still can't believe (1) how bad this stoppage was. And (2) how i seem to be in the minority in thinking it was a bad stoppage.

6th round starts at the 1:56 mark, Crolla was winning the round convincingly IMO, and Matthew even looked like he could have gone down a couple of times from the body work.

The stoppage was particularly bad, because crolla had shown in the fight when he gets stunned, he could come back from it well, this one was no differant. He still had is guard up. He wasn't trapped against the ropes he was going backwards.

Personally i thought this was a terrible stoppage and I can't wait for Crolla to get his revenge.

It was an awful stoppage IMO, it already is a candidate for domestic FOTY, imagine if we got to see the rest of it!

Hopefully they meet in the final of PF and got to war again, both are great lads.

I agree. If all refs were like out brit refs, most of the classic fights of all time would never have happened.

I agree, I think the stoppage was terrible. Most of that round looked like Matthews was on his last legs, he then landed a good shot and the fight was over. If Crolla had been allowed to go on, I think he would have survived and I think he'd have stopped Matthews.

Me too. Matthews was buckling under those body shots. It could have gone either way, but if I had to pick, i think Crolla would have stopped Matthews in the next round.

But then I suppose we wouldn't have this incredible prizefighter to look forward too.

    Terrible stoppage.

I think the fact that 1) it was a FOTY candidate and 2) a lot of people like Derry, he's been at the bottom, come back etc that people don't mention it/question it as much as say if it were an englishman abroad

Also would it have been stopped that easy if there werent thousands of screaming scousers in attendance?

Ah good old John Keane...not like him to stop a fight early

Funny to see bigragu in the comments calling it a bad stoppage

Was a poor stoppage but his legs did go a fair bit, difficult to predict how the fight would have carried out after that.

I just laugh at the thought of one day two fighters coming out for the first round, one fighter lands a flicking jab, and the ref diving inbetween them waving his arms going "sorry son, you've had enough"

    Legs wobbled a bit??

It was a war - a british title fight - shouldn't have been stopped like that
