Nice info but how many of those fighters were elite like Cotto?:deal The truth is that Margo has never faced or beaten an elite fighter and will find out on saturday what it's like to step up in class.

It would be rather cool to see this stoic/taciturn/boring as 3 hour tour of your own ****in' living room personality throw a temper tantrim over his loss. Let's hope it unfurls.

Your post was on point as well.:good
It's all fine and dandy to list wins over scrubs but what about his losses to Jones, Williams and Santos? It's obvious when he faces even solid B level fighters like these he struggles. The difference in class will be apparent from the opening bell Cotto's educated jab, body attack and movement will be the order of the day in route to a wide UD win or late round TKO.

Since 99, Margarito's opponents' win/loss ratio has been 539/79. this comes out to an 87% winning record.

However, we cant just look at that. You also have to consider what these fighters have done themselves.

Andrew Lewis: at first it seems like a good win, but since andrew lewis has only fought 3 times with 1 win

Sergio Martinez: is a solid fighter. his only loss is to Tony. however, he has built his record fighting bums and is ranked top 15 amongst light middle

David Kamau: hasnt fought since losing to tony

Antonio Diaz: has had 5 fights since losing to marg with 3 victories and a draw. however, he has fought bums. the win/loss ratio of his opponents since tony is 111/46

Danny Perez; has won 4 out of his 6 since fighting Tony. But he loss to Jesse Brinkley (tv contender) and loss to a man with 12 losses.

Hercules Kyvelos: has gone 2 for 4 since margarito. however, the opponents he fought had a win/loss ratio of 73/45.

    Lujan hasnt done anything since.

Anyways, i'm just saying that yes he has beaten a lot of people, but many of them were C level fighters who never accomplished anything before or after facing margarito.

so you can sit here and talk about his resume, but without analyzing the actual competition, it means nothing.

many of the people cotto beat went out to become champions after he left the 140 lb division. that shows that he beat quality opponents.

you have to take quality over quantity all day.

the names i listed above were guys who had decent records. the only fighter who margarito beat who still makes a little noise today is sergio rodriguez who is only ranked like 12 at light middle. Kermit is yet to be determined.

An awesome fight to look forward to! Aside from the stats that have been listed on behalf of both guys, I would like to add that something will happen that will bring out the best of both men Saturday night. We often see this when a challenge is perceived to be so great that the mind and body and will come together to create a great performance. Sometimes it is the best performance of a fighters career such as a Douglas vs. Tyson, Calzaghe vs. Lacy.....etc.. The mentality of both Margarito and Cotto is pure warrior, and when the chips are down this could end up being a match of fortitude, desire and sheer mental toughness. I can envision cuts, knockdowns and vicious shots come Saturday night. At some point I think that this fight will come down to a display of heart and courage from both men and be a contender for fight of the year AT LEAST!

It could end up otherwise but dammit if I am buying this fight let me justify it with thoughts of grandure!

I'm sorry but...Cotto is too fast and too intelligent for Margarito. His defense improves with each fight. Cotto UD 12. It would be really impressive if he were to stop Margarito.

Margarito is 30 years old. his career has span 14 years. He's been fighting since he was 15. He had 3 loses early in his career. You think the guy never dealt with adversity??? He already has. You think he's never been hurt??? He already has.:patsch

I believe Cotto will get hit and he will hit the canvass in return. He will try to stand up then fall back onto the canvass. With such a situation the ref will wave his hands signalling the end of the fight, and Cotto zero will be gone.

I believe everything you said except the Floyd part.Margo would be a punchbag for Floyd.Floyd would pick his shots and continue blocking what Margo has to offer.
