I continue to think Paul Williams is the most avoided and underrated fighters out there!

However i feel if he takes the following path, he has to be in most peoples top 5 p4p rankings.

If he beats Cintron which i feel he will
THEN defeats the winner of Foreman/Cotto (I feel cotto will beat foreman)
Then rematch Martinez and beat him to take the middleweight belts

IF he can achieve the three above, which is very likely to happen, i think Williams should go down as one of the best fighters of the last 10 years. Of those fights i reckon Martinez would be the toughest. But with a proper training camp and preparation this time around i believe he would handle Martinez.

    Any thoughts?

After he beats Cintron he needs to press for a Martinez fight if Pavlik does call for an immediate rematch.

If he cant get that, then possibly push for a fight with Sturm

He already has my respect. I do think the winner of the Cotto/Foreman is on the agenda for him if the Martinez fight doesn't materialise immediately. Nobody at 147 will go near him, and if he does win those he would make quite a statement to the boxing world.

Williams is too flawed fundamentally to ever become a consistent winner on an elite level. His problems with slick southpaws will never go away.

How many slick southpaws are there out there? especially those who will be able to get away from his mega punches in mega bunches???
He beat seven shades of **** out of Winky Wright, and ko'd quintana in the first in the rematch.

I know he has a tendency to find it difficult against those ''slick southpaws'' you refer to. But in mine, and a lot of other peoples books, he is ALREADY a consistent winner. He has some good names on his resume. And of the three fights i referred to which of those do you feel Williams loses to? And theres no denying if he gets those three wins its enough evidence that hes an elite fighter

Interestingly I saw that Dan Rafael just put him at number 4 on his p4p, a spot ahead of Dawson and two ahead of Sergio.

In the Quintana rematch he was getting hit with the same type of punches. The only difference was Quintana looked out of shape and Williams looked super strong. That was probably the worst version of Williams(looking slow and weight drained) that you will ever see. There may not be that many slick southpaws but there is enough that he will lose to at least one more in the near future. He should be happy that Martinez and Dzindruzik(please forgive my spelling) are in their mid thirties and will retire in the next two years or so.

I think he would stop Foreman and Cotto. The Martinez rematch depends on the older man's stamina. Mind you PW is one of my favorite fighters. I just wish he didn't eat so many punches and have a longer career.

Everyone seems to forget that he beat Margarito. Nobody mentions that.

Also, PWill-Cotto is NBA's dream fight, I think. Favorite fighter vs. least favorite fighter.
