Another fan that has Martinez way too high. Martinez at 6? lol, wow Martinez without a doubt over the last couple of nights has taken the throne of the most overrated fighter in Boxing. Donaire and Cotto in the top 10. :patsch Also, Froch beat Dirrell, and not to mention he scored the fight for Froch. How exactly is Dirrell ahead of Froch? Also, how the hell is JuanMa ahead of AA, and Froch just to name a couple?

    Excellent post.

This guys is going out of his way through three divisions to make fights against ANYONE who will fight him. How as an objective fight fan can you NOT have respect for him??

We can in no way assume he can't make 147. He says he still can, and why not trust the guy who knows his own body?

Long Tall Paul would go down to 147 in A SECOND if he could get a big fight there. He's old school as ****.

:? Williams IS one of the most respected fighters out there, that's why many will not fight him. Williams is a throwback and definitely has my respect. He has a very close win over the current middleweight and jr middleweight champ Martinez, beat a former most avoided fighter in the world in Margarito, and avenged his only loss with a brutal ko over Quintana. To not respect him you have to be jealous or a hater. Floyd or Manny don't want anything to do with him or Sergio for that matter.

I don't understand why it takes 3 fights for him to get respect. I was blown away when he destroyed Quintana in one round and also the fact that he didn't make it sound like he was robbed in the first fight. The man loves what he does. I can't think of too many fighters who come to the ring with a big smile on their face like Paul Williams. I love watching the Margarito fight which is my favourite PW fight.

So long as he keeps fighting the best, he'll have my respect.

Would love to see him fight Floyd. The 24 7 for that would be interesting. Also, something I just read from Dan Rafael's blog:

Williams should have been respected already for fighting every fighters that puts infront of him and gave it all out to just please the fans. Hell he's fought most of alot of avoided top fighters like Margarito, Quintana, Verno, Wright, Martinez.

Williams is a good fighter, but with the way he fights, he might have trouble with Kermit. If anything, Cintron can punch. If Williams leaves himself open too much, he could be kayoed. Paul really needs a better trainer. He needs to learn how to punch. Manny Steward would be great for him.
Hearns was a very light puncher as an amateur, but when he turned pro, he became a puncher. I believe Steward would help Williams become a better fighter and puncher.

I respectfully disagree with those who say that PW needs a new trainer. He's gotten this far with George Petersen for a reason and just because he had trouble with Martinez, people think that it's a reflection of Petersen as a trainer. Don't forget, PW was training to fight Pavlik initially and had to change his whole training camp around so that he could prepare for the southpaw style of Martinez. If he had his whole camp preparing for Martinez instead of Pavlik, I think the fight would have turned out a lot different.

But one thing I do agree on is that PW takes too many punches. He's one of my favourite fighters today and I don't want to see him down the road with slurred speech like my favourite fighter of all time, Thomas Hearns

Beating Cintron will not help him. Cintron has been a joke in his last few fights.

If he wants to be remembered as one of the best of the last ten years, he needs to beat Mayweather and Martinez (more convincingly) and be consistently on high level against quality comp for years.

Man stfu about "own size".<<<You sound like a ****** . I don't read you saying Caballero needs to fight somebody his own size. I never read you saying Corrales (r.i.p) should face somebody his own size in his prime days. I don't read you saying Funeka should fight somebody his own size. Oh how about a legend name Thomas Hearns that stands 6'1? Hmm and in his prime, Hearns i believe never fought any fighters that is the same height or taller but i suppost that's ok right???
