Clinching is, but excessive is illegal. Wlad did go down to avoid a big punch from Sam I believe, its no shame in being hurt by a good hard puncher like Sam.

I will admit however Wlad did throw a very powerful Hook that did stun Peter, the fight was won by Wlad that should be all that matters right.

I'll jump into your sparring w/BG.
If Wlad's clinching is "excessive" then so was Ali's and many other fighters. This is getting so lame. And Peter rabbit punches too much. It's not all caused by his opponents turning away :huh What fighter doesn't try to turn away from a punch? I just recently watched the Wlad-Peter fight. I agree that in one of the KD Wlad decided to go down to avoid a punch during a Peter offensive surge.

    :good

    Waldo would smash the giant.

He'd not have to worry about some punch sneaking under his guard, which historically has been what has troubled him.

Plus his speed advantage would be even greater. And we both know he has the power to drop the giant.

The three guys I pick should be no surprise...

    1. Sam Peter
    2. Alexander Povetkin
    3. Ruslan Chagaev

Yep, poor PPV sales equals poor division.

    1) Vlad WILL have trouble sneaking under his guard because it is something Wlad never did in his life. And if he want clinching, Wlad WILL have trouble carrying 140kg weight on his shoulders.
    2) Wlad's punch power is exaggerated, he can't rely on it - compared to Valuev's granite chin. Wlad had troubles with stout opponents - Brewster 1, Puritty, Peter.
    3) Yes Wlad has speed advantage, but thats not that much a factor IMHO.

PPV is not a criteria. Americans just don't buy foreign fighters much.
