Even the "BEST" fighters make mistakes. Some glorify Lewis and others say he was way over-rated. Bottom line, and like it or not, Wlad is an "A" level heavyweight, period. And about the fighters you mentioned, both of them had the chance to go many rounds with Lewis and he beat them.
I second all that and suggest that size would not be an advantage when you know not to take advantage of it, otherwise Mike "The Giant" White could have been GOAT... Wlad is a beautiful fighter, honest, and I believe he can become even better as he used masterful footwork in the Peter fight, always has shown a good, strong jab and is evolving a lot pacing himself, still may driven by panic but no queston he's the best heavy out there and by far... I believe Wlad has heart and his chin may not become a factor until he hangs em up, but there's a lot more to Ali than just dimensions and I strongly emphasize on this - Never compare fighters of different ages when you simply were not there to sense it and come about the differences now. Any A level fighter would beat Ali of the Holmes fight yes but no living or dead man beats Ali of the Liston fights and of his 8 title defenses prior to the Nam issue...
there are about 10 heavyweights those can beat Klitchko 1) Ibragimov - most dangeous pick for he is quick southpaw with a strong punch which can be delivered either to china chin or liver 2) Valuev - next dangerous pick for his size, weight, stamina and durability. His jab though slow, is longer, thicker and more mean, more weight delivered into punch. I think Wlad is scared like **** and won't go against him anyway. 3) Chagaev - has less chances than Ibragimov because he is not that speedy. However he is a good all-around boxer, has experience with dealing big guys (Virchis, Valuev). 4) David Tua - no comments 5) Hasim Rahman - Vitaly Quitchko ran from him away for a reason 6) Briggs has a punchers chance - even in lost bout he managed to land few heavy bombs in Sultan's face 7) Oliver McCall has even more of the punchers chance than Briggs 8 ) Juan Gomez has enough chances too. Always wanted to fight Vlad. One of those guys (McCall/Gomez) will soon be out of the picture 9) Vladimir Virchis has some chance too 10) Povetkin if he proves himself has a go after Wlad immidiately Peter is a disappointment and Maskaev is aging, and Oleg won't have an attempt to go after Vlad. He will need to beat Peter, Quitaly Bitchko and McCall / Gomez consequently to do that
Exactly right. It's the comp alright. Calling the division weak is being kind. Wlad is the best out there today but in past eras he might possibly be top 10 or so at best. His fans rave about his jab and all his jab is is sticking his long arm out and keeping opponents away. How long do they think he would last with Tyson bull-rushing hin at the sound of the bell of round one? Two body shots, a left and right upstairs and Wlads history. His comp of Sanders, Brewster, Valveu, Brock, Williamson, Williams, etc., etc. would never be anywhere near top 10 in the past. Never ever. Saying Wlad could have beaten ali is like saying Oscar would have beaten Duran. And some believe that also
There is only one fighter who would cause him ANY problems and that is Povetkin. Other than Povetkin everyone else is sub-standard.
Prime Tua, Mercer, and McCall are no better than today's top heavies. Bowe beat Holyfield who schooled Tyson, who was schooled by Lewis. Round and round we go. Then came Golota who changed everything. The only difference in today's HW division is that the fighters aren't mostly black Americans, they're mostly from the east (except Peter). The American media is using this "weak division" BS as propaganda. All the rest of the world has no problem with it. There are so many athletes in the US yet none are emerging as HW champs, so the only excuse is saying "the division sucks".
WTF..AUDLEY HARRISON!!atsch Of course the rest of your picks are comical as well....so I'm going out on a limb to say that you are just kidding!:rofl :rofl :rofl
The White Wolf who proably has the best boxing skills out of the entire HW division aside from James Toney who really isn't a HW.
Only one out there is Vitali and thats never gonna happen. Lewis if he came out of retirement stands a better chance than anyone else in the division. Haye is unproven at HW. Solis in a years time is the only hope...this guys could posibly be the saviour of HW boxing.
Not true, boxing is not nearly as popular as it was in the glory years of the 90s. When Tyson fought it was almost always on PPV and the same with Holyfield, how many times was Wlad on PPV? you dont have to answer he was never on PPV, if he was a great as some claim people would pay to see him fight.
