3 huge black eyes in Boxing within 2 and a half months

The only black eye boxing has is that there is no Mayweather/Pac fight. The media and casuals dont care about no stinking Mexicans.

 

If my eye had been recently knocked out the socket and it took to operation to fix it , my right hand would be glued to the right side of my head and Id be bob and weaving like no ones business..

Instead he invites Cotto to hit him in the eye:blood WTF!!!??? very strange fight even stranger game plan by Margarito ...

 

Margarito was damn near rendered blind in the Pacquiao fight.

Cotto was repeating that performance. He targeted the eye and it was getting worse by the round.

The NY Athletic Commission cannot risk a fighter being permanently injured under their watch. Margarito knew from the first bell what would happen if he let his eye get ****ed.


Getting punched in the face is not a valid defense in boxing. You decide not to block or avoid punches, you deserve what happens next.

Margarito got stopped. It's his fault. He fought like ****. Period.

As for the stoppage, it wasn't just cos his eye was closed, he has an existing serious issue with that eye from the Pac fight, he risks losing sight in that eye.

Margarito 0-3 fighting quality fighters since being caught. Extra few minutes would not have helped. He's garbage.

The stoppage was the right decision considering Margarito's prior eye problems. Normally, a doctor would stop a fight if a boxer has completely lost vision with an eye.

I was upset myself only because I was truly enjoying the action but I can still recognize the legitimacy of that stoppage.

On the other hand, I disagree with those that think Margarito couldn't have done some serious damage in the final rounds. I think in that last round, we were starting to see some flashes of their previous fight. I'm convinced that Cotto was getting tired from constantly moving around. He was beginning to remain stationary at times in that last round before the stoppage. The worst thing to do against Margo.

The most probable scenario was Cotto outboxing Margarito to the end but I still wouldn't have dared bet the house on him making it to the final bell...

Not in a million years. I swear to christ, if they were fighting in Nevada or Texas, Cotto was going to fold like a lawn chair. This fight takes place 20 years ago w/ 15 rounds? Cotto loses every fight. EVERY one. I don't care what any of you say. :smoke
