1 - If you could go to a videostore, and rent/buy fights.. for isntance Mayweather vs Hatton DVD, it would feature the fight poster on the cover... 24/7 episodes and a countdown (if you dont want to watch every episode) then the fight also... legendary nights on dvd available to rent and purchase in the store. 2 - bring back fights that use 8oz glove.... or if they want big gloves... 10oz. use differant camera angles (they were using this awsome ring post *or so it seemed* camera a few times in a few fights on HBO... it was real cool... dont know why they stopped doing that, and add extra volume to the punches... so people get the idea of how hard these guys are actually punching. now you have to realise... to us? none of this means ****.. but guess what, we are ALREADY fans. to the less fortunate, who dont have the attention span to enjoy a boxing match, these little thing would make the fight easier and more entertaining to watch, and the smaller gloves would bring back the toughness feeling that boxing used to have... now its almost a joke sometimes with how big gloves are on fighters. 3 - Somehow find a way to put a countdown on a regular cable channel like spike.... as well as keeping it on HBO. and keep the momentum of great matchups that we had in 2007 i garuntee you... that if we did that, in one years time boxing would be the main combat sport once again.
1.) Sanctioning body for boxing (one title, mandatory challengers, etc) 2.) Big fights on broadcast television (CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC) Just those two would work I think.
What do you mean by broadcast television, not cable? Because in England we all think big fights should be on BBC or ITV, which is normal basic TV package that everybody gets.
I agree with some of your ideas, but the main thing is like you said, is to get the average fans attention. I think the only way we could do that is by having the fighters hype up the fights more, we need boxers to show more personality in interviews and in the ring. Guys like Tyson, Toney, Hopkins, and Jones, were some of the best **** talkers and guys that knew how to hype up fights and make them interesting to the average fan in the bar.
Echoed. I don't want it to be any bigger, its fine as it is. You make it more mainstream you get a hell of a lot more moronic ignorant fans around the sport. We have enough of them already.
i used to be... but i dont like how its taking a backseat to mma... i really cant stand that for whatever reason and i want it to reclaim itself as the baddest sport on the planet, and be KNOWN as that. and more importantly... fighters salary's depend on demand for them, and for the sport.... although there are 2-5 names in boxing that make great money, i want boxing to go mainstream again so that fighters make better money.... im not talking the mayweathers of the world... im talking the average champions in average fights.
It is definitely not taking a backseat to mma over here in the UK and Europe. Boxing is blowing up again.
