great fighter- but terribly unsatisfying career for me as a fan. I havent seen enough of him fight to be honest to form a solid opinion. He s done great things- but he hasnt fought much in the past 4 to 5 years to warrant any firm statements. Anything you can say about him can be undermined with an example contrary- for example mosley- well yeah shane hit him and he adjusted- but shane by then was washed up. same with Judah- who had already been shattered more than once.

I just want to see him truly challenge himself- and take a fight he would be even bet or underdog, take on a guy much bigger than himself, Martinez or Wiliams- guys he would beat probably- but make it hard for himself. Even Roy challenged himself late and took on Ruiz. Manny isnt as polished- but has taken on tougher challenges- considering his size. floyd could have done so much more but has chosen to be smart and political. We dont want our champs to be smart and careful- we want them to have huge balls and take on all comers int he centre of the ring- his style is fine. I like the way he fights- i just dont like the way he chooses his fights and how often he does it. If he was more like- ok this guys the new thing?? ok everyone says he s all that?? fine im gonna whoop him to show how great i am- that would be awesome. instead he s - what has he done to deserve a shot at me- then when the said guy loses because he has taken a challenge, ie williams, or margarito, floyd sits back and says well i was right. Thats fine- but its not cool to let others beat the guys for you. Just cos Manny beat up Tony and Cotto did it- and Floyd beats them- dosent mean that floyd should get any credit for them as he thinks he does. Its not enough to simply be the best. One should take the best challenges and make it hard for himself. Really push it to the max. If these divisions are too easy- then fine- go all the way up to middleweight, Supermiddle even- until he finds a guy he simply has to struggle against. Thats what we want.

thats what we all do in a way - Ok this jobs too easy- i need to find a harder job- i might get the sack but i ll give it a go. thats more impressive to try and fail- rather than succed when you always are expected to. he s done everything right in the ring that he has set himself to- he s as good a fighter in the ring as you can get from his body. But jeesh- if Manny or Oscar or anhybody with balls had his talents- theyd push it and go all out to find the toughest guy they could fight. Leonard took on Hagler, an animal and won, Oscar took on Bernard and lost, Manny- who is a tiny tiny man took on Oscar, you have to see Manny up close and size him up to realise how small he is- to realise how impressive it is to see him beat up a guy like margarito.

Floyds talent demands he does more out of it is all. He s them most talented fighter today and has gotten the most out of his body as i said in terms of his skills and ability- but i still think he has underachieved , even at 42-0 .

I mean , seriously name at lightweight he was amazing. he fought the best, corrales, etc and whooped them. but who is the best fighter he has fought. I bet theyre past their prime or out of their weight class. But hey- its floyd. im over it to be honest. just waiting for him to retire so he can shup up and we can move on. he s never fighting manny, and thats the shittest legacy of all - for both guys.

You really didnt think this thread through tony did you? Give boxrec a quick scan and you can easily pick out multiple fighters who were better than floyd in all aspects you listed.

Floyd didn't adjust to Mosley. It's not like Mosley's style was troubling Floyd... Mosley just landed 2 good shots. And Mosley was doing some bizarre **** after the second one - pawing against the ropes.

What? Come on, man. SRR was better defensively than Floyd? You really think that? I don't think he was more focused either, as he'd lose his composure a few times vs Lamotta.

I said almost every attribute, defense I would give the edge to Floyd in.

Robinson almost always found a way to win against fellow atg's, regardless of the adversity he faced, so yes id give him in the edge in compossure to.

Btw can you blame him in losing his composure against Lamotta, one of the atg pressure fighters?
