    3 Unbelievable fights in 1982.

    Limon vs Chacon 4

    Mancini vs Kim

    Arguello vs Pryor

I love all these fights, and either of them could of been FOTY. It turned out that Chacon vs Limon was FOTY in 1982, but my own personal fav was Mancini vs Kim.

    My list would go .........

    Mancini vs Kim

    Limon vs Chacon

    Arguello vs Pryor

    How would you rank them?

Of the 3, the best fight easily was the one between Arguello and Pryor, because not only was the action both brutal and non-stop,but the fight was also between 2 all-time greats and you could easily see their impressive abilities on display.#2 would be Limon and Chacon because it was nip and tuck as well as a street fight between 2 fellows who really didn't like each other. Mancini-Kim is #3 on this list because even though Kim demonstrated phenominal courage and resiliency,he was limited and was consistently beaten to the punch by good, not great Mancini.May he rest in peace.

How can you say Kim was consistently beaten to the punch? he was raking Mancini's face with straight left hands all night long, and if anyone had superior hand speed in that fight it was easily Kim.

Arguello Pryor is my personal favorite even though I hated seeing Alexis hurt, all 3 were great fights.

i would tend to agree with you. there is a major rocky balboa complex with ray mancini. i like the guy, like his attitude, respect his courage and his ring swagger, but he was a good fighter, not a great fighter and was very beatable, even on his best night. kim had a notable handspeed advantage.

no doubt. the aaron pryor black water bottle fiasco was such an awful shame. if any guy in the game didn't need to cheat in any way, ever, to win, it was aaron pryor...a magnificent blend of speed, power, attitude, athleticism and dynamic ring generalship. aaron's weaknesses for illegal drugs in a pipe or a water bottle derailed such glories...what a waste. and, in addition, a first rate warrior like alexis arguello should never have been the victim of such dangerous disregard for the warrior's code.

Arguello could have simply poached that coveted 4th world title off Saoul Mamby, but he said he could not consider himself the real world champion unless he beat Pryor. That my freind is the mark of a true champion.

I've been a boxing fan since a young loud mouth named Cassius Clay put a beating on the always dangerous Sonny Liston, and rarely have I ever seen the combination of savagery and skill that we saw the night El Flaco Explosivo went after The Hawk. Pryor fought like a man who would rather die than lose. Fortunately for him, he faced a rather faded and ring worn version of Alexis Arguello who had already spent 82 nights in the belly of the beast. Father time beat Alexis before Pryor did. Doubt me? Watch the Escalera, Mancinni, and Pryor fights back to back. The decline of Alexis Arguello is quite evident.

Chacon-Limon 4 is the better fight of the three followed by Arguello-Pryor.

I have never been a Ray Mancini fan.As I wrote before,he was good, but not great. He was always extremely fit, brave and relentless. But he wasn't particularly quick, didn't have good handspeed and bled a lot.And he was very easy to hit.He was a protected champion by the powers that be because he was a moneymaker with a heartwarming story about his father. However, even though all of that is true,he was up on all scorecards when the knockout took place. He was up on 2 cards by 4 points and 1 card by 6 points.Kim may have had quicker hands than Mancini, but that's not saying much.Mancini was up by a lot because he was landing the more telling blows and finishing more exchanges. And even though Kim showed the warrior's heart in that one, nobody had heard about him outside Korea. And of course Mancini was very beatable. He won an alphabet lightweight title against one Arturo Frias. His weaknesse were massive and every time he stepped up in class,he was handily beaten(Arguello,Bramble..).But he was handily beating Kim when the ko took place.

Mancinni proteced??? Ya right -- I guess that's why they threw him in with Alexis ****ing Arguello in his 21st pro fight. Beatin' handily by Bramble? Okay, I guess you watched those fights on the radio:patsch

The Arguello fight was for the title, genius. The powers that be couldn't wait for Mancini to get his shot. And as soon as Frias won his title, his first defense was against Mancini, which Frias lost of course as Frias was the ultimate alphabet champion. The powers that be couldn't wait for Mancini to get the title his father couldn't.And what about putting him in with shot Espana and both Mancini and South African ref Stanley Cristodulo hearing the bell ending the round as they paused but continued on the onslaught, and allowed it to continue as Cristodulo stopped it during what should have been break time. And yes I saw it on TV,not heard it on the radio as in their first fight,Bramble kicked Mancini's ass.

Actually,Mancini fought Frias in Frias' second defense, but no real difference.Mancini was the Golden Boy on the networks, and was treated as such.
