I am very happy with the undefeated, best fighter on the planet, especially after an awesome fight like Mayweather Mosley. That guy deserves a vacation. I know you're feeling dissatisfied after Pacquiao/Clottey, and now with a lackluster fight like RockGloves/CherryPicker you must be even more hurt. One day your boy Manny will step up, take the tests, and fight.
Then that is Roach's bad intentions. I never respected his motives for a catchweight. But it's the other fighters signature, not Roach's, when that fight is made. I just want to see a great fight. Let the fighters decide how much they want to weigh in.
I'm not surprised. I don't know how or why it happened, but this place turned into a homosexually charged, race-baiting forum. It's like every third post there's another gay oral sex reference, or accusation of racism. Pacquiao fans are running out of ammo after that Clottey debacle and now yet another catchweight, for a vacant title no less. Let Floyd pull something like that. These clowns would die.
Pacquiao sucks to you because you can't stand that a technically limited boxer in your eyes is on top. You said it yourself before. So you are basically saying true boxing fans are like you and have to be blindedly biased in favor of your favorite boxer. Thanks for sharing your wisdom.
It's Roach's fighter's signature too...not just the other fighter's. I'm sure Pacquiao knows Roach's "bad intentions" before he signs the contract. Roach works for him, remember?
Of course it's both their signatures... on an agreed weight, not some weight where a gun was pointed to the head of the other. Roach probably wanted Cotto at 142, Cotto said no way my doctor said 145 is the lowest safe weight I can go down to. 145 was agreed. Fight was made. Cotto looked fitter than his previous fights at 146 being able to dance backwards til near the end of the fight.
I can't stand that a limited fighter has built a legacy as one of the greats through careful negotiation and opponent selection. If we follow the Pacquiao formula, every fighter should... 1. Choose the weakest opponent available that will further your agenda, but not raise too much suspicion. He must have learned this from RJJ. 2. When fighting for titles, a vacant belt should be your first choice, or, choose the weakest title holder and fight him. Preferably at a catchweight. 3. Never, ever defend your title. You stole it, now run away and look for the next piece of low hanging fruit. 4. Wait until a former contender is shot, and/or coming off a devastating loss. 5. Negotiate a weight that they are uncomfortable at, or haven't been at in years. 6. Hire a PR team to promote you as a warrior that takes on all challenges. Then avoid the tough ones. 7. Appeal to women and family oriented men by presenting yourself as a Christian and/or family man. Be sure that your PR team hides the mistresses and out of wedlock babies. See number 6. 8. Negotiate all of the variables in your favor as far as testing, gloves, etc. 9. Claim to be from, or pledge allegiance to a 3rd world country. If possible, build a fortress there.
Interesting how you see a problem with all this with Pac, and at the same time turn a blind eye to all of your favorite fighters shortcomings, which many of what you listed apply. Bias? :think
Floyd had no leverage over Oscar. Oscar made him the box office draw and multi millionaire he is now. You can criticize Pacquiao. I don't like seeing this catch weight bull****. But to compare him with Mayweather isn't the right way. Mayweather has been acting like a *****.
My favorite fighter beat the toughest opponent in the division earlier this year in convincing fashion. What did yours do?
Boring, but not a sham. Pac beat a legitimate good welterweight who's never lost convincingly ever before, and arguably won all 12 rounds. Floyd didn't beat the toughest in the division, just the oldest. Floyd took an indefinite vacation when the toughest in the division was negotiating a fight with him. :smoke
