What's stopping Canelo from coming in at 152 for each one of his fights? Nothing....now according to phlomos it actually made him better at 152 :rofl :tired

You do realize of course that a) the catchweight was Alvarez' idea and b) Alvarez has fought below 152lbs as a professional...

    Nonsense.

GGG is a Middleweight who wants to clean out his division, then possibly move up, as many before him.

He's also willing to come down to 154 for very lucrative financial reasons, a fight with Floyd (lots of $$$$$) or Manny (not as many but still a lot of $$$).

He has no reason to move up to 168 yet. There's nobody up there (except Froch, who has now retired) who could attract flies to sh*t, hence no reason to look upwards.

    :deal

Alvarez should have *never* opened his mouth and said anything about a catchweight.

    Or really?

Then why fight Baby Chavez and Carl Froch?

As I said in the post you failed to read:

Froch could have brought a fair few $$$ to the table.

And JCC jnr has a lot of Mexican fans who would have paid big $$$ to watch.

Ward, aside from being retired for nearly two years, couldn't fill his back yard and brings nothing to the table.

Neverteless, GGG will eventually meet the SOG, and the more time before it inevitably happens, the more it favours the younger Irishman.

"It's what I want, the Mayweather fight. That's what we put on the table. I feel more mature and for that I am willing to go down to 150 pounds," said Canelo to Sal Rodriguez. "De la Hoya said he was going to pursue the Mayweather fight [for me]. We are ready for it. It's what people want, for me to fight someone like [Mayweather]."

Canelo weighed 153 for trout 152; for Mayweather.
