Window lickers ? You seem to have an affinity for that one. Did you graduate grade school ??? Usually intelligent conversation, debate and different opinions. The best you can come up with,`window-lickers` ? Priceless...
it seemed like a look of disgust in Duran's face Comparing the number of shots he took in the rematch as compared to the first match, he certainly wasnt hit more and I dont believe he was hit any harder in the rematch. something in him snapped and he'd finally had enough of the clown in front of him It seems as tho no matter how hard Leonard tried to impress, something always took the luster off his wins
no matter how u slice it, Terry scored all the knockdowns while your man didnt score any. last I heard, ray was a pretty good puncher - stopped Benitez (well sort of) stopped Duran (but not with his fists) and Hearns (the malnourished version) yet I never saw Terry blink WHY? let's see u answer that one Foolishness is making unnecessary trips to Panama
Because Leonard is so evil and Duran so noble y'see. Roberto would always give a man who'd beaten him a fair shake of the stick. Say, he lost in 1972, for example, if giving a rematch there's no way he's insist of having it in Panama in the blazing heat with Panamanian officials...and he'd always let his opponent put the back fight due to illness and trouble making the weight...or to have the fight later on in the day when it was cooler if requested by the fighter's manager...he's that kind of guy.
but, wasnt that same possibilty stronger after the first round with Hearns? since we would have to conclude it was after two knockdowns (vs none for Leonard and Duran still unhurt), and noting Duran's shaky legs after the first KD, why didnt he just quit in his corner to avoid being knocked out? as usual, his fans like making with the talking points but have no critical thinking skills
Elton, the Hearns fight occurred some four years after New Orleans. Duran wasn't going to pull another high profile quit-job in a fight of such significance, especially when the stench of 'No Mas' still hung over his head. Least of all the difference in opposition. Not that I should expect someone of your limited mental capacity to comprehend any of this.
Hahahaha, he'd already redeemed himself by then with wins over Cuevas, Moore, and the performance against Hagler when Hagler was a force to be reckoned with. No one outside the US, and they don't count anyway, mentioned any stench of No Mas. Plus by then Leonard had run to the hills for the second time, with no dodgy eye excuses this time, just Kevin Howard dumping him on his ass. Now what were you saying about mental capacity?
Poxy, you'd be best suited to not discussing matters that are completely beyond your understanding. The fact that you actually think 'No Mas' ceased to be a relevant issue by that point is pretty revealing with regards to how little you actually know of the era. That it's still a major talking point some three decades on would suggest that it was still a major talking point while Duran was still an active fighter, only a couple of years removed from that fight (even when he was beating a shopworn Cuevas or poking Davey Moore in the eye.)
Just to clarify, the scores at the time when KB was declared unfit to continue were 8-3-1, 9-2-1, 9-3-1 all in favour of Duran, and it was in fact Buchanan that initiated the after the bell action, Duran simply finished it. Despite press talk I don't think the Scotsman really wanted another dose of that.
You are correct ! Terry didn`t blink, his eyes were half closed after meetings with (dare I say it ?) Mullings, Jackson, Brown and Boudani...
