The Ring Magazine will definitely have to get their rankings in order and pump the winner up to that #3 spot one of them should already be occupying.
On the fight itself... wtf is Whyte thinking? He gets right back into training having just gotten KTFO? A 3 month turnaround is waaaay too soon. Is Whyte really going in with the mindset that he just has to be more careful? Because honestly, that won´t be enough. Maybe he can devise a good gameplan, but he should be focusing on fixing his mistakes.
I reckon something like this.... oh hey guys, sorry I have had no coverage, what did I miss? What about Whyte, the king of the world blah blah blah
Not the wisest move boxing wise, but I think in today’s world where boxers get written off so easy it’s kind of expected that you have to fix any blemishes right away if you want to be on top of t he rankings and making top money again. I’m not sure what he can or will do different considering Povetkin was up front about using the uppercut and Whyte looked cautious about opening Up for the upper. He probably thinks he got over zealous which is partially true. I just think it will be fighting against his nature to not leave himself open. I could see a safety 1st approach fight or going in there trying to blast Povetkin out quicker this time.
Povetkin wins with the left-uppercut feint and big overhand right, and then announces that he will be challenging for the WBC super-cruiser belt.
No idea how this fight's going to go. Feels too soon for Whyte after suffering such a KO, but Hearn said he was up at the count of eight so I guess Dillian will be fine....right?
A plus factor is that Whyte will not have ballooned up in weight again as he has tendency to do between fights. Whether it wise or otherwise for immediate rematch, both fighters are willing to get it done, as a fan i applaud that.
And it's not like Povetkin just countered Whyte. Povetkin baited him, drew a punch from Whyte and then landed the counter. That is high level stuff.
To be honest it doesn't need to be that punch, Whytes punch resistance is gone and had been for a while, he is done at that level
Feels weird that this fight is happening again so soon, I'm so used to rematches being these drawn out affairs as one fighter tries to negotiate a better deal or duck the rematch. Says a lot about both men that they are willing to jump right back in. Whyte will clearly be more cautious in the rematch, I think he'll try and box and hope Povetkin fades and that's when he can turn the fight his way. Not sure he'll be able to pull it off though, Povetkin only needs to land cleanly once and Whyte isn't the elusive boxer type.
Whyte's packing too much glass for Povetkin. He isn't smart and athletic enough to do what Joshua did, and box behind a cautious jab either.
I don't think this fight goes more than 3 max 4 rounds maybe less than said, whoever wins. I've a funny feeling Whyte will go to war with Povetkin, in the first fight Whyte's game plan never worked.
I’m amazed at how Dillians Whyte has managed to train for the rematch when he is still somehow buried in Eddie Hearn’s backyard..
