Rocky takes the place of Dempsey against Tunney for the first fight ,at the same age 31, and with the same 3 years of inactivity.
How much different would the result be?

Tunny smart enough to engage only when necessary. I got GT by SD.

With the inactivity, I can see Rocky losing, since his main attributes needed to beat Tunney would be fortified through training and activity anyway. 3 years is a long amount of time.

How are you, Mcvey? You've been inactive for a while. Hope everything is ok

To answer the question, prime Tunney would be very tough task for inactive Rocky for sure

The inactivity would be the killer. Marciano relied heavily on conditioning to bolster his style. If his gas tank has a hole in it he's got a big problem. Otherwise I'd reckon he'd probably take care of Tunney down the stretch the same as Walcott and company.

Tunney gets a decision or even a late tko due to facial damage on rock.

There are more 'anti-Rockistas' than Rockistas themselves.

    This.

I would favor an active marciano. I think this would normally be a bad matchup with his pressure style and relentless power+stamina would give the cagey fleet footed tunney nightmares. But the key ingredient, stamina, would be missing with the absence of Marciano's diligent hard work in the gym. All he could hope for is landing one big punch, otherwise, he trails on the cards.

    10 rounds?
I think Tunney could hold him off.

Hard to say- Marciano prime would beat Tunney I think by a late stoppage but not sure how Marciano would do on a 3 yr layoff, because he was a pretty active guy and every fighter is different. Marciano was 250lbs when he stopped his regular intense training regime & weight lifting was not really a practice in boxing at the time.

One thought - rusty legged Dempsey was basically on a 3 yr layoff and almost stopped Tunney in the battle of the long count- Dempsey used wall weights- pulleys - strong back muscles
