A master talent (6-6 high jump, 10.8 100m) and master operator (the tandem work with Normie was impeccable). A lot to be learned from his script. Only fighter outside of Bowe to beat Holyfield (on my cards). That is quite an accomplishment, you must admit.

I'm not saying he was bad, but he truly was mediocre in many areas (like workrate and speed and chin). You think Holyfield beat Lewis and Byrd?

On an April 27 1955 article, British challenger Don C. criticized the fact that 31 year old Rocky Marciano had kayoed Ezzard Charles, Joe Louis, and Jersey Joe Walcott, all old men. But lip service does not get it done, what happened to Don on May 16 1955, in Kezar Stadium, in San Francisco, the 31 year old Marciano won by TKO 9. In a a fight with Gene Tunney, after a 3 year layoff, he may give a few rounds away to slick boxing Gene, but Tunney has nothing to keep Marciano off of him. Rocky by KO 6. Those wrecking balls of body blows slows Gene to a dead stop. Then it is Suzi-Q time, and night night. Marciano would be very gassed after this bout.

Lifted a Mack truck off a hedgehog, and ran 20 miles with a Red Stag on his shoulders. Could have won gold medals had he entered the Olympics.Their loss our gain!

He has to catch Tunney before he can stop him.Lastarza ,a very poor facsimile of Tunney went eleven rounds against a prime Marciano. Also don't think Tunney was a powder-puff puncher ,he wasn't ,and Lastarza went into that fight with elbow problems. Here are the score cards at the time of the stoppage.
    referee: Ruby Goldstein 7-3 | Harold Barnes 5-5 | Young Otto 6-4

Marciano with the added benefit of low blows, butts, hitting after the bell ,and when Cokkell was down, still took 9 rds to stop fat Don,yet he comes out of 3 years inactivity and stops Tunney in 6 rds?
    Never on this planet!

It is my opinion, you do not have to agree with it, but I know where your coming from, it's Marciano.

You are entitled to your opinion but Id like to point out
that as regards Tunney's power, and your statement," he has nothing to keep Marciano off him".
Tunney was one of only 2 men to stop Bartley Madden, the other turned the trick in Madden's 6th fight, courtesy of a cut eye.Tunney knocked him cold.
"The end came after a little more than two minutes of fighting (in the third round) when Tunney backed Madden into a corner, gained his opening with a left jab and then crossed a crushing right to Madden's jaw," (AP) putting Madden down for nine. A left hook to the jaw then sent Madden down for the count."
Tunney was also the only man to ko Tommy Gibbons, who went the distance with Dempsey whom Tunney also floored .
Tunney threw swift cutting jabs and straight right hands, and Marciano cut pretty easily.
