The match between the two hardest punchers in the middleweight division, Julian Jackson (49-3-47KO) and Gerald McClellan (31-2-29KO) is a classic match-up between two highly skilled and hard punching athletes.
Although Jackson was the hardest puncher of the two, McClellan, also possessing great power, possessed the better technique and boxing skills of the two that would make the difference.

How do you think these two would have fared against Bernard Hopkins, Pavlik and today's Middleweights?

Hopkins outboxes both... Would favor both against the entire division today except for GGG, who both would have a good chance at beating.

How did you come to the conclusion that Jackson hit harder than Gman?

    I don't know about Hopkins.
Both McClellen and Jackson were very good boxers with power. I think Hopkins would have a rough time with them both and McClellen might just beat out box BHOP.
With Jackson, all it takes is one mistake, and you may never recover.

Pavlik had the completely wrong style and would try to slug with them and get KO'ed. Taylor would get KO'ed by either.
Golovkin has never been in the ring with this level of opponent. I feel there is a 75% chance he gets knocked out.

Because that was his forte. He specialized and focused on KOs. Plus, he was a pure puncher with a higher KO percentage.
    IMHO, McClellen was more boxer/puncher.

Pavlik and Taylor get KTFU....100% probability in Jackson's case.
Bhop....maybe out boxes either or both. But one clean shot by either guy and it's
    lights out.

GGG is still an enigma to me, or maybe an enema I'd don't know. He hasn't yet been
up against a monster power puncher. Let's see if he can withstand a clean shot from
Canelo (if that fight ever happens). Then we'd have a better idea of what he could do
    against McClellan and/or Jackson.

Not on Hopkins level.. He'd slow the fight down(maybe surviving a bad moment or two) to pace he felt comfortable at outsmart either to a decision *although there's a fairly decent chance he stops Jackson at some point*

I lean towards Golovkin knocking both out, but only slightly... More so against Jackson who definitely had chin problems despite being a massive puncher. It's definitely probable he'd have mixed results against these two though.

I totally agree with 95% of this.
Jackson and mcClellen only respected power. Those who lacked power would get no respect from these two. BHOP would have to throw some leather to keep these guys off of him and hurt them to get their respect.

After watching Brook-Golovkin again, both McClellen and Jackson KO Golovkin in round 1 or 2.

Canelo is not a monster puncher. He's got OK power but Lemieux, Stevens and Jacobs off the top of my head all punch harder than he does. Canelo has good counterpunching and upper body movement. I think people are over rating him a bit. His true forte is rehydrating like a sponge.

Both fighters have a punchers chance against any champion in history but I think both fall short against your Hopkins, Haglers, GGG's, Monzons etc.

McClellan was/is overrated only ever fought 3 names one is his 2 victories over Jackson and one over a Mugabi who was on the slide although still only in hus early 30's and the hammering he received by Benn. The rest of his resume is laughable.

That was a brutal fight IMO neither fighter was the same after that fight. Hopkins would have the most problems with Gerald who was more athletic.
