Round 1

Pabon flails his lead left out of the southpaw stance before settling down with his right jab. Castro is just tomahawking with his left jab and right hand and cracks Pabon a few times but spends most of the round a step behind that right jab getting just slightly outboxed.

10-9 Pabon

 

Round 2

Castro is still lathering Pabon up with those overhand rights, starting to tighten up the breaks between them. One of them arcs down right into Pabon's chin and takes his equilibrium as he's stepping back. Castro manages to press Pabon up to the ropes and smashes away at him as Pabon has nowhere left to go. Pabon is hurt!! Pabon sinks to the ropes and Castro just unloads on him. The punches aren't very fast but they're all heavy!!! Pabon crumbles!!! OVER!!!!

 

Awesome win for "Zorro".

The Mexican was coming off two straight losses, while Pabon's only previous loss was back in 2007.

 

Felix Mercedes vs. Miguel Angel Munguia is next - 6 rounds @ 140lbs.

 

Round 1

Mercedes is a bit taller, and uses his height sparingly with a long jab from the outside before getting bored and falling in with telegraphed right hands. Even announcing his intentions beforehand, he's got the quickness edge on Munguia. A few crisp exchanges. Clinch. Munguia is bending his lead knee and testing the waters with his left jab but getting beaten to the punch.

10-9 Mercedes

 

Round 2

Mercedes is getting off one jab or halfway-executed uppercut to the chest before they slam together in clinches with neither wanting to back up. Lots of tying up, little actual punching.

 

Round 3

Munguia lands some sloppy right hands with his left arm trapped under Mercedes' armpit. Very rough little scrap here. Mercedes throws body shots to drive Munguia back but the shorter man just grinds into them and grabs him. MUNGUIA IS DECKED!! He sits dazed before pacing and answering the ref's call, nodding. Mercedes is atop him instantly, but gets grabbed and spun while throwing. Munguia spoils and clinches to survive.

10-8 Mercedes

 

Round 4

Munguia is stumbling, even before getting hit. He pushes his left arm out, trying to use it as a pole to nudge Mercedes away but only resulting in knotting up their arms as Mercedes forces his way in. Lots more clinching, tangling, shoving. Wild missing. Mercedes slaps him with a left palm to the face as Munguia falls back to the ropes. Munguia is trying to uppercut his way to safety in retreat but has Mercedes falling atop him, clapping down with right hands (mostly rabbit punches).

Shitty fight.

 

Round 5

Munguia is throwing his right arm in a wide arc and letting it fall harmlessly down across Mercedes' frame. Lots of leaning and grappling. Mercedes is digging body shots whenever he has room to do so. Munguia doing little but flail.

 

Round 6

Mercedes tries to work his uppercut but has it stunted as Munguia just leans into him, leading with his head and forearm. Mercedes dances around on the outside before running in and loosing a three punch combo. Inevitably, Munguia starts flailing and they tie up as a result. Most of this fight has been a shoving match or lesson in human origami.

Mercedes should win, I know that much. Don't care to see Munguia again.

 

Sullivan Barrera is in the ring.

This is a LHW prospect to watch! :deal

 

Round 1

Cautious opening half-minute, with Paines jabbing from mid-range. Barrera gives him the old Foreman trick, a few soft jabs before hardening it up to get the deer-in-headlights effect and then CRASHING home a big powerful right hand!!! Paines is staggered all the way across the ring and down. Paines gets back in there and gamely tries to stand and slug with Barrera, staying in a turtle shell when not throwing punches. Barrera just approaches calmly, setting up rights with his jab. Big explosive combos by Barrera push Paines into the ropes. One more big right at the bell.
