5-0 (2) Alfonso Blanco vs. 3-0 (1) Cleven Ishe - 6 rounds @ light middleweight.

Boxrec incorrectly has his name listed as Cleveland Ishe, and they're missing a bout from his record. Amateurs.

 

Round 1

Blanco circles, kept in a turtle shell as Ishe wings hard left and right hooks at him for almost the entire first minute. Blanco tries to let a few counters slip out but is mostly forced to guard 95% of the time, taking the brunt of the shots on his biceps and shoulders. Blanco lands a solid 1-2. Ishe gets a crazy wide-eyed look and a half grin. Creepy. Blanco edges forward, rolling onto the sides of his feet and throwing his 1-2. Sharper punching from Blanco, just not a lot of it. Nice flurry of hooks and uppercuts by Blanco just before the bell. Enough to steal.

Round 2

Nice quick left hook counters by Blanco, shooting around the stiff but long-traveling shots of ripped Ishe (whose muscles contract tightly with his efforts and show there is as huge a gap in relaxation between the two as there is a gap in speed). Uppercuts to the body by Blanco as well. Wicked counters landing by Blanco. Ishe is getting rocked by those quick left hooks whenever he opens up. Ishe has one nice sequence where he walks Blanco halfway across the ring dishing it out, but is countered too frequently to press on.

Round 3

Blanco is working that educated left hand, throwing nice jabs and hooks coming forward - and then that wild uppercut to the body thudding down as icing on the cake. For his part, Ishe is still throwing hard punches and putting them together well enough. You can't really fault him too much technically, he's just in with someone who's a) far more relaxed, b) MUCH faster, and c) possesses better timing. It's a recipe for disaster. Nice hook-2 combo by Blanco. Ishe circles out and flicks his arms out. Blanco is the complete ring general; coming forward and counter punching. Ishe is running and winging hard shots out of his rigid, vein-bulging stance.

Round 4

Blanco is drizzling leather across the face of Ishe, fast straight flurries and powerful textbook hooks. Ishe leans in and tries to infight a bit as he's clearly getting whooped at a distance. Blanco is less effective there, flipping the back of his glove weakly up into Ishe's chin and looking as though he doesn't know quite what to do. Ishe is unable to stay in there, though. Soon Blanco is right in the sweet spot throwing long jabs, perfect hooks and right hands that all snap Ishe's head back. Ishe tries to plow the body but is getting rocked by those counters from every angle. Ishe misses several power punches as Blanco seems to think "Hey, body shots! Great idea. Thanks!" and turn Ishe's own strategy against him.

Round 5

Blanco has that 1-2 on an almost ruler-guided beam. It's clipping Ishe on the mouth and making his tightly clenched face quiver as he backs away to each set of ropes under fire. In between all the nice picture-perfect punching from Blanco are those weird sloppy devil-may-care uppercuts to the body (which are also landing and hurting Ishe). Just complete domination. Ishe has chin and heart to his credit at least. Blanco is tooling him badly. Ishe is on the ropes getting rocked by a HUGE flurry. Maybe 15 unanswered shots. Tony Weeks is giving Ishe every opportunity here (and technically he's still moving his hands...budging them at least, in vain attempts to get shots off).

Round 6

Ishe turns himself partly away from Blanco, waving his jab out defensively and trying to keep his distance. Ishe looks EXHAUSTED. He flicks some limp shots at Blanco hoping for the pace to remain anemic. He is inhaling very deeply through his mouth, and taking large staggering steps even when he isn't getting hit. His arms are dragging heavily at his sides as though weighted. HARD right to the chin by Blanco. He's picking his shots and landing beauties. Ishe is rocked and chased across the ring after being affected by another right hand. Ishe throws a hook from against the ropes and Blanco gives it too much respect, leaping clear out of the way even though it was about the slowest and saddest hook you could imagine. Ishe is throwing absolute arm punches now, but to his credit he is still wading in and floating those leaden-looking arms in Blanco's general direction.

Blanco seems to have made a silent gentleman's agreement to let him reach the final bell out of respect for Ishe's guts, by not exerting himself on any last-minute flurries.

The commentators just asked the same question. I couldn't understand many of the words, but heard her name and their confused tone.
