Flashy entrance for Erkan Teper aka The Gentle Giant, whose performance against Robert Hawkins on the Klitschko-Solis undercard was downright tepid. His undefeated record could be at risk here, depending on how "real" Gospic's power turns out to be.
Round 1 Gospic hops around, springs in his legs as he circles Teper and digs hooks to the body. Gospic is fairly slow of foot himself but still quick enough to elude Teper's plodding and lunging jab attack. Gospic's hands hover around his face as he sails around Teper, pawing his jab. Overhand right by Teper blocked. Both hit shoulder during a hacking exchange. Hooks to the body by Gospic. Teper misses. 10-9 Gospic
Round 2 High hooks by Gospic. Teper keeps sidestepping to remain aligned with him and manages to line up a slow but well-timed 1-2. Gospic has to cover up as he looks a bit rattled by Teper's power getting through. Teper keeps stalking and jabs to the body. Hard left and right hooks around the sides by Teper, with Gospic using his elbows to block or deflect most of them. Gospic jabs and dances outside, just out of Teper's reach. Clubbing combo by Teper as Gospic shrivels up and slinks away. More outside movement by Gospic, blocking jabs and pawing with his own. Uppercuts by Teper coming forward. Brief exchange, both getting rocked back slightly on their heels. Jabs from Teper, very much the aggressor. 10-9 Teper 19-19
Round 3 Teper jab and homes in, with Gospic bouncing on his toes and springing at the knees as he loop-de-loops around the hulking German. Nice combo by Gospic, with his surging overhand right getting blocked but freeing up the body for a firmly planted left hook. Nice consistent body work by Gospic, leaning off to his left and digging in very solid left hooks. Gospic moves and hooks fluidly. Teper is just chasing and missing jabs. Beautiful hooks to the body by Gospic. 29-28 Gospic
Round 4 Teper is flinging out long jabs and straight rights from several feet away as he presses on. Up close he drops his fists and turns them thumbs-up to dig sidelong uppercuts to the midsection of Gospic. The Croatian is eluding and blocking fairly well but gets caught aganist the ropes and dropped hard as Teper bludgeons him down with clubbing shots. Gospic does well just to survive, requiring the full employment of both hands and both feet. 10-8 Teper
Round 5 Gospic dances around and makes strident efforts to remain a yardstick or so away. Good hooks to the body from Gospic, but once again he is surprised and caught by a lone uppercut from Teper and hurt a bit. Teper unleashes as Gospic lays up on the ropes and again covers up to survive. 10-9 Teper 48-46 Teper
Round 6 Teper is wantonly tossing long uppercuts behind his poking jab, leaving himself quite open and basically thumbing his nose at Gospic's power. Jabs and counter rights from Gospic off the back foot as he zips around and around. Feinted looping rights from Gospic only get slight reactions from Teper, who really doesn't respect his pop much at all. Teper isn't landing a lot but is hurting Gospic whenever he does plug him with a straight right every so often. On the inside, Gospic is grabbing the back of Teper's neck to pull him down into clinches and Teper is just slamming his forearms across the Croatian's head and squeezing it. A bit of body work by Teper on the inside. 10-9 Teper 58-55 ET
Round 7 Jabs from Teper, closing in quickly and then stopping short to confuse Gospic and break up his rhythm. Gospic is darting in to flurry as Teper stops or goes temporarily in reverse, and then dodging the jab/uppercut combos that lie in wait. Dipping body shots by Teper, who is actually doing a bit of boxing and moving (slowly) himself. Teper is jabbing from the outside and crossing his forearms to block when not letting his hands go. Gospic is just moving backward and flurrying, doing nothing effective. His power didn't bother Teper when it was landed flush, so it certainly isn't anything for the German to worry about when daintily scattered out with no torque. Teper is landing body shots unmolested whenever he gets near, and crashing some hard leg-shaking right hands into Gospic's guard. 10-9 Teper 68-64 Teper
Why wasn't I warned about this  And with Dutch commentary no less.... (not that that's a good thing but hey)
Round 8 Teper throws a powerful 1-2, and another. Gospic is getting his own gloves plastered against his face trying to keep the padded leather off it. Teper steps up the tempo and leaps in behind huge right uppercuts, backing Gospic all around the ring and up to the corner. 10-9 Teper 78-73 ET
