    Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini
    24 (19 KO) - 1 (1 KO Loss)
    vs
    Deuk Koo Kim
    17 ( 8 KO) - 1

    Caesar's Palace Las Vegas, Nevada
    Aired on CBS

    World Boxing Association Lightweight Title

Kim was the #1 ranked challenger, according to the WBA.

This was Mancini's 2nd defense, the first being Ernesto Espana less than 4 months prior to the Kim fight.

After this fight, the WBC instituted a new policy that stated their Championship fights would be determined in a 12 round setting, no longer using the standard 15 rounds.

Rip. Just a tragic situation all around. It's like the entire thing was written as an opera that played out in real life.

Kim's mom committed suicide shortly afterwards, then referee Richard Greene committed suicide. Mancini went 4-4 to end his career...!!!

Not to sound morbid, but it doesn't feel like 33 years. Feel like it just happened within the past 10 years...!!!

Still a fresh reminder on how tragic this sport is, and that anyone who steps in the squared circle deserves the upmost respect...!!!
