First up: Mark Salser vs. Rodolfo Armenta, 6 rounds @ 140lbs.

 

Round 1

Salser is throwing some BOMBS! :shock: Armenta is forced to retreat with a high guard, all the way to the ropes and then clinch. Salser keeps coming forward, wound up tight and looking to land with power. Suddenly Armenta drops anchor and throws a long unanswered combo that draws some excitement from the crowd, but the round has been largely Salser pressing the action. Now Salser walks halfway toward Armenta and then pulls back, leaning his upper body back and making a difficult target of his small head.

I'm ~15 minutes behind due to the overlap with FNF, but should be caught up once I fast forward through a few commercial breaks. :good

 

Round 2

Salser is again the aggressor, throwing solid combos of hooks up high and rights to the body. Both forms of attack seem to hurt and/or scare Armenta. Salser remains in a high guard as he comes forward, but his work rate drops off considerably and seems to allow Armenta to get back into the fight after regrouping and steeling his resolve to stand and throw. Armenta digs away with uppercuts beneath the elbows. Salser lets himself be pinned against the ropes, blocking most of Armenta's shots. BIG counter right hand by Salser, flush on the chin and makes Armenta take an involuntary step back. Wild hook by Armenta misses. Salser blocks a 1-2 to the body and grabs Armenta behind the head. Armenta throws about half a dozen uppercuts to drive Salser into the corner but they all hit arm. Now Salser responds with a series of clubbing shots, many landing to the back of the neck.

20-18 Salser

 

Round 3

Salser lines up a very hard 1-2 on the chin of Armenta. Then he steps off the gas and lets Armenta begin to rally yet again. Just as soon as Armenta gets going (as does the crowd) Salser catches him clean with a hook to the jaw thrown off the back foot. Salser stands in front of him and waits. Now Armenta throws a couple of left jabs, ducked and dodged easily by Salser. An Armenta jab flies slowly up, high and wide of Salser's head as he ducks forward. Salser now walks Armenta up to the ropes by simply pushing into him with his forearms, and begins to club away at him with overhand rights and lefts. Their heads come together and both might have been cut from it.

30-27 Salser

 

Round 4

Armenta misses several jabs, and now an uppercut. It's an issue of both a hand speed and timing. Salser's moderately good defensive movement has something to do with it as well. Salser just leans in casually against him, and lands a VICIOUS right uppercut to the bottom of the chin. Armenta is about ten times busier than Salser but might be getting outlanded, and is DEFINITELY the recipient of the harder and more telling blows. Another headbutt. Ref takes a look at Salser's cut. Left eyebrow. Pretty bad. Salser is angry. He finishes the round by stalking and hooking Armenta. Good hard combo. Armenta spoils, bending over and flopping against him until a break is called. He does it again before the bell.

40-36 Salser

 

Round 5

Salser dances a few very quick circles around Armenta, who can't keep up at all. Armenta has turned all of five degrees before Salser is all the way around him again. Salser whips out some hard straight jabs. Now a jab-uppercut combo that backs Armenta up. They hook together and each take a steadying step back as they were caught up on their toes. They clinch and Salser works the body with his short right uppercut. Armenta tries a desperate left hook to the body while prying himself free and backing up, and it lands with a loud thud. Salser starts to line up a 1-2. Armenta is cracked HARD in the face and crumples into the ropes. Salser is upon him and gets tied up. Another brutally hard 1-2 to the face by Salser. Armenta tries to use his length to just lean down on Salser and smother him. A few left hooks to the body by Armenta, whose face is busted up badly. Body shots by Salser coming in, reaching around to the backside with his right hand.

Round 6

Salser tries to get a jab going but Armenta is intent on leaning down on him. Salser just pushes him back and lines up another one of those hard straight combos. Armenta is hurt and again drapes himself over Salser, who just works the body. Armenta throws a variety of tired-looking arm punches down low, even slower than before. Very belabored jab by Armenta. Salser lets him flurry uninhibited, just leaning back into him. Here's a slapping hook to the face and some hard right hand rips to the body by Salser as they grind together. A 1-2 by Salser glances as Armenta pitches forward. The last five seconds see both men swinging for the fences!

Round 1

Martin glides smoothly around Silveira, throwing jabs and right hands from outside and using his height and movement as his primary defenses. Silveira tries to time a few jabs but can't find Martin. Leaping uppercut by Martin, who is slipping or outright evading about 99% of what Silveira throws. Martin isn't connecting at a terribly high clip himself, however. His punches just seem sort of winged, half-assed. Martin doesn't seem very motivated so far, but is still comfortably winning the round with vastly superior speed and boxing skills.
