First up is the super flyweight title clash - Cazares' seventh straight and fifth defense.

    Round 1

Cazares stalks on the outside, landing right jabs and throwing some powerhouse overhand lefts that are partially caught on the arm but still coming down heavily. Shimizu is sharp on defense but largely cautious and not getting much through on the champion except a few rights to the body. Fairly little in the round. Bigger ordnance coming from Cazares.

    10-9 HFC

    Round 2

Cazares keeps walking Shimizu down, throwing hard overhand lefts up top at the shaggy mane of the challenger and whipping the hand around the bottom for an uppercut as he charges in to press the advantage. Shimizu is trying to counter backing up, leaving a trail of jabs and stopping to use his forearms as a bar to press down on the shorter man as a stalling tactic. Good 1-2 by Shimizu as he takes an extra step back to line it up at range. He repeats it a few times and gets Cazares backing up to the ropes.

They're showing this on delay all chopped 'n' screwed!!:twisted:

Damn you TBS!!!! (the Japanese station, not the one owned by Ted Turner :yep - although damn them and their "Very Funny" nonsense too)

Hopefully the main event is shown live and isn't currently in progress or already over.

    Anyway, Round 6 :conf

Cazares is still very aggressive, even moreso! Big body shots! Budi budi budi!!!! Shimizu is getting smacked around a bit and looking fragile as he totters and tries to hold under fire. Cazares is roughing him up, landing overhands across the shoulders and back and digging uppercuts into the chest of the hometown hero. In the clinches Cazares is jerking him around and imposing his strength and will. Big Cazares round!!

    Round 8

Cazares is a little demon. Shimizu is distressed by right hooks and every left hand attack imaginable. Shimizu seeks sanctuary on the ropes, but Cazares just abuses him even worse there. The referee takes a hard look. Shimizu takes a stand, walking forward and landing a good left hook, right hand combo! Shimizu is the aggressor now! Cazares is pulling back to avoid shots but getting clipped with a few to the head, digging his right hooks to the body all the while.

With several rounds missing, I'm not even bothering to keep a running score. It would be Swiss cheese. Pointless.

I'm just calling the action and waiting to see if somebody gets knocked out.

    Round 9

Shimizu is landing some nice long jabs, continuing his success from the end of the eighth. Cazares is being held on the outside by some good punch placement from Shimizu. Big overhand lefts are wound up by Cazares but not getting all the way to their target. Looping left to the body falls short as well. Shimizu is imposing his length now. Nice long sinuous left hook. Several stiff plank jabs in the face of Cazares. Good combo by Shimizu as he turns the champ. Clinch as Shimizu jumps in and leans down on his man. Shimizu might be a little punched out for now and is holding a lot. Cazares isn't allowed to do anything effective.

    Big Shimizu round.

    Round 10

BUDI BUDI BUDI! Cazares is still a bit wild but is selling out to stay up close and personal with Shimizu. Cazares' power is getting through. Shimizu is only getting off a couple of jabs before having to skid to a halt and hold or else be steamrolled. Cazares looks tired and is taking some time off between his raids, but is keeping Shimizu under siege with clubbing shots. Right hook and looping left to the body. Shimizu does his best to move and counter as the TBS commentators start shrieking. Very nice 1-2 off the back foot.

    Round 11

Cazares is still relentlessly charging in and putting big overhand lefts behind his right jab. Now Shimizu starts to let his hands go and is able to turn the tables and work off his left jab coming forward. The referee warns them both for the inevitable smashing of foreheads that comes from an orthodox and southpaw boxer lunging at each other without either conceding to be the one consistently backing up. Shimizu is able to retain ring generalship through most of the last two minutes of the round.
