Fun fight, worth watching...weird, though. Then, it is bound to be anytime you have 5'7" with 74" reach versus 6'3" with 78½″.

Testament to Qawi's toughness to last long as he did against a legendary punching super heavy like Big George just a few months after the second war with Holyfield. Likewise, laudable for the Punching Preacher to be teaching his old dog self new tricks at this stage of his career and adding new wrinkles (slipping & jabbing fluidly?? Foreman?) in his first important match-up after a decade off. Sure, seven victims had stood in front of him in the just over a year since starting his comeback but none of any consequence. This was the first signal that his return run might actually amount to something.

    Is 12:53 an illegal punch?

Foreman lost weight too fast for this one IIRC. Looked a bit faded.

Yeah, I don't think he ever came in this light again.

Correct - in between his last first-run match against Jimmy Young in '77 and last second-run against Shannon Briggs in '97, this was his lightest, by far. Closest was 7lbs north.

Tough to watch Qawi take some of Big George's punches. His size and style were tailormade for Foreman but you have to give Qawi credit for heart and effort.

noticed george was wearing the same shorts that he wore when he lost to ali. did he wear them in all his fights during his comeback?
qawi could take a punch. he was lucky the ropes LITERALLY snapped him back onto his feet there in the 6th.

For some of them, yes, including Moorer. IIRC, he was wearing white trunks against Cooney, Holyfield, and Morrison.

Absolutely mental that Qawi would agree to stand in there against Foreman. He was fearless. And a special fighter with a unique skill-set, as well.
