I have watched this fight many times (and written a thread about it, a dozen years ago) but it rates numerous viewings. ATG vs. ATG, both technically skilled with power, both in or near their primes, with a chess match ended with a single violent master stroke. This is kind of, like, why you watch this sport, no?

McCallum was my favorite fighter when I was a kid. The guy could do it all and was as technically sound as anyone. Always strong in his stance and perfectly balanced.

Can not believe it's that many years ago!!
Not sure if others agree, but I quite enjoyed the McCallum v Toney fights. I thought it was a nice blend of styles. The first fight was Toney s first real test, after Nunn, and wouldn't have surprised me if McCallum had gotten the first decision win.

Wasn't he just. A great fighter. He beat two Brits in his middleweight days but I still rooted for him.

Curry looked to have returned to form with no weight constraints but couldn't take it well enough. Excellent technical fight and it shows just how good Curry could be as much as it did Mike. Curry hurt him a couple of times and looked extremely sharp. He couldn't take it like a McCallum however.

Great fight and a classic trap by McCallum. Curry looked sharp, but he made one mistake and sometimes that's all it takes.
