Round 1

Missed some of it, but near the end Acosta was hurt and almost dropped! (barely staying up). Badly startled by Abril's power. Uncomfortable start, doesn't have his rhythm.

Round 2


Acosta lands jabs high and low coming forward. Acosta bends at the waist and then snaps upright to continually work the jab. Abril is stringing him along, throwing nothing back. Body shots by Acosta, ducking in. Abril with little to no offense while backing up.

Round 3

Acosta works his way in, hooking and jabbing at Abril's face and slapping with right hand rabbit punches (uncalled) when Abril ducks in front of him. Very negative performance by Abril. Sudden right hand up from off the ropes by Abril, trying to hold Acosta off. Abril clinches and they spin. Acosta keeps coming forward, quickly trotting after Abril and holding his arms out to spin them up into Abril's face when close enough. Abril flat out runs from his pursuer, turning his left shoulder. TACKLE by Acosta, and they spill into a pile under the bottom rope.

Round 4

Acosta is boxing, using a lot of motion and circling Abril with his hands down while looping in left and right hooks and paper airplane shots. HARD right by Abril, drops Acosta!!! He beats the count, and is cautious for the remainder of the round. Hooks and uppers from the hip, as Acosta boldly keeps his hands low but takes care to circle very quickly around Abril and keep at least beyond arm's length. Abril tosses in long plowing uppercuts from across the ring and keeps the pressure on.

Hurt twice, dropped once. Aguacerito could get KTFO by a guy with a 16-2-1 record (and a 50% KO ratio)!! :scaredas:

 

Round 5

Acosta is jabbing up high, missing. Abril is doing the same. It's Acosta coming forward, but Abril doesn't look scared - just biding his time. Acosta lunges with rights to the body, missing. Right hands over the top by Abril. Left jab by Acosta is dodged. Abril squats and jabs at the body. The crowd boos. (they've had a knockdown, very nearly two - wtf are they complaining about. Do they know what the MSG crowd just sat through? ) Hard right hand by Abril, partly blocked. Clinch. Acosta misses several jabs, very wide. Abril is just rolling his shoulder and backing up, stringing Acosta along and making him miss.

Acosta looks horrible.

Round 6

Ugly, a lot of grabbing and pushing. The crowd is booing loudly. Every bit as loud as the Donaire-Narvaez crowd. Abril is backing up, showboating a bit with little shakes and shimmies as he invites Acosta to lead and waits to counter. Acosta tries to roll back from an Abril right hand but is a little hurt by it even though he blunted its impact. Acosta flurries at the body and Abril easily avoids it all with a diagonal step back. Acosta tries to place his jab but just can't find the accuracy. Abril ducks a right hand. Abril jerks straight back to make Acosta overreach and miss a jab, and then lands a counter jab of his own.

Round 7

Acosta threatens with his jab but doesn't let it fly. Instead he's obsessed with right hands that take the scenic route through the clouds...and miss. Abril holds his left arm out straight like a stick, allowing Acosta nothing but a right jab to the body. Acosta goes down, slip. Abril stands right in front of Acosta and lets him wave an inaccurate jab vaguely in his direction, just watching it with disinterest. Abril slips a jab and lands a HARD 1-2, the cross giving Acosta whiplash. Flurry to the body by Acosta, working right and then left uppercuts at the belt line. Abril drops his left arm to his hip to catch body shots and keeps his right cocked up under his chin, and starts to move outside to make Acosta miss more jabs and overhand rights. Acosta down again - another slip.
