Your whole reaction to Price is based on what Thompson did to him. He looked great before that.

Thompson was the best imo out of Arreola, Chambers, Guinn, the Boxing Banker, and Austin. I also think he'd beat Brewster who was good but with different strengths and weaknesses.

I've watched Price from the amateurs don't attempt to think for me ,you have enough trouble doing it for yourself! The US heavies you listed were decidedly average, so that endorses my point.

Ortiz hasn't been beaten because he has only faced a couple of fringe contenders.Valdes was mixing it with Liston, Powell,Miteff,Folley,Machen,Baker,Johnson & Moore.Do you think Ortiz would be undefeated if he faced that bunch?
Plus Ortiz has only had 27 fights, Valdes had 70!

Call me crazy, but I think Ortiz could outperform Valdes' 1952-1953 run of 1-4-1 and his 55-56 run of 2-6. I guess his prime was 1954 and he was a novice prior and shot after.

They must've went through a similar school of training.

He was an orthodox infighter with poor balance.

Ortiz is 30 pounds heavier and a precision punching southpaw. Ortiz is more of a hybrid of Gomez and Sanders.

You maybe right but, based on what I have seen he isn't going to do much more on the world stage.

Most of that poundage is surplus ,Reznik is right, they have the same basic style.

The Scott fight was the worst performance of his career. He knocked someone out a few weeks later.

Yes he did 9-1-1 punch bag David Allen,[check out his stats] and it was stopped ,not a ko.

If Scott can go the distance with Ortiz then there is no reason these ATGs couldn't get a decision over him if not knock out. C'mon here we're talking about guys with 100+ fights and wins over every style of great fighter against a one dimensional 36yo power puncher who has fought nothing but cans.

One dimensional is way too harsh for Ortiz.
I like that he can jab at a distance and also bang up close.

You do get the sense that he can't close a fight when the other guy decides not to get knocked out.
But in a match where the other guy is going for a win, Ortiz is dangerous.

Ortiz is a lifetime boxer who faced every style already.

One style Charles and Archie never saw was a 6'4, 240 pound southpaw with ko power in either hand.

Very curious logic...Scott fought to survive and hardly won a single round. That fight tells us next to nothing about how someone like Ezzard Charles would fare.

    That makes absolutely no sense.
