In here, I'm just going to put my scores for posterity (to look back at and reference later) having just freshly caught up on DVR after the Cotto-Margarito II PPV finished up.

Feel free to post yours as well.

There will be brief synopses of the rounds along with my scores, but not full RBR type posts. Just sketches.

    Darchinyan vs. Moreno

    Round 1

Vic Darchinyan missing a lot but aggressive. Body shots by VD. A few jabs by Anselmo Moreno.

    10-9 VD

    Round 2

    Moreno ducking, moving, and countering.

    10-9 Moreno

    19-19

    Round 3

Nice counter uppercut by Moreno. Darch getting frustrated.

    10-9 Moreno

    29-28 Moreno

    Round 4

Moreno is elusive, nice counter right jabs and left uppercuts. Darchinyan looks stupid, missing badly. Judo toss by Darchinyan, gets a point taken for the flagrant foul.

    10-8 Moreno

    39-36 Moreno

Press row a third of the way through:
Kevin Baxter & Dough Fischer have 38-37 Moreno; Jairo Giraldo has 38-37 Darchinyan. Al Bernstein has 39-36 Moreno, same as me.

    Round 5

Moreno: movement, right jab, clinching, elusiveness, defense. Darchinyan is bullying but not landing really.

    10-9 Moreno

    49-45 Moreno

    Round 6

Southpaw jab battle early on. Moreno winning. Body hook by Moreno. Darchinyan head hunts and misses. NICE left hand by Darchinyan. Moreno stuns Darchinyan with a left hand! Low blows by Moreno. Darchinyan affected. Body shots by Darchinyan but mostly lunging and missing.

"ShoStats" demonstrate: Moreno landed 86 of 229, Darchinyan 47 of 242. Landed almost twice as much while throwing less. Pretty bad-ass.

    10-9 Moreno

    59-54 Moreno

    Press row scores @ halfway:
    Baxter/Fischer 58-55 Moreno. Giraldo 57-56 Darchinyan.

    Round 7

Rabbit punch by Darchinyan. Good straight shots by Moreno. Wild stuff by Darchinyan, good boxing by Moreno. CRISP body shots by Moreno.

    10-9 Moreno

    69-63 Moreno

    Round 8

BIG SHOTS by Moreno, hurting Darchinyan. Damn. Body shots. Lots of clever ducking and body-bumping by Moreno. Darchinyan is all wild nonsense. ******ed. Darchinyan hurt again. Nice rights jabs by Moreno.

    10-9 Moreno

    79-72 Moreno

    Press row @ two thirds:
Baxter and Fischer 78-73 Giraldo 76-75 all Moreno

    Round 9

Pure ownage by Moreno. Tarver makes the Sweet Pea comparison, not far off really. Sloppy body shots by Darchinyan. Moreno twisting and rolling, shoving and countering, eluding and jabbing.

    10-9 Moreno

    89-81 Moreno

    Round 10

Right jabs and hooks by Moreno, moving nicely. Feet tangled and Darchinyan lands a big left, maybe stunning Moreno. Jabs, body shots, strategic clinches by Moreno. Solid hurtful lefts by Moreno and good accurate right jabs, all while moving. Darchinyan is low output, low accuracy, low energy, no defense.

    10-9 Moreno

    99-90 Moreno

Press row scores entering championship rounds:
    Baxter/Fischer 98-91, Giraldo 95-94 Moreno

    Round 11

Moreno swaying and dodging, throwing body shots and making Darchinyan miss up close. Darchinyan has black eyes. Darchinyan is missing wild hooks at point blank. Moreno is shoved Darchinyan back and jabbing him. Excellent movement by Moreno, STILL.

    10-9 Moreno

    109-99 Moreno

    Round 12

Moreno moves quickly and jabs. Darchinyan can only make contact by fouling (holding and hitting, rabbit punches, forearms to the face etc.) Dirty ****. Moreno jabs him in the face and sprints off. BIG knockdown by Darchinyan, but it was a shove-down!! HARD PUSH to the ground. Moreno landed hard but gets up and is right back on track with his jab. Darchinyan misses horribly stupid yo-yo right jabs. Moreno slides back, squats, jabs, making Darchinyan miss a ton.

    10-9 Moreno

    119-108 Moreno

James Jen Kin 116-111 Steve English 117-110 Jose Cobian 120-107

    UD Moreno.

JJK off his game there. Cobian was closest. I can live with a shutout more than with giving Darchinyan three rounds.

Moreno is a classy fighter. Vic looked like a lost slugger looking for one punch. No plan other than wing the left. He didn't move to his right, nor go to the body enough, nor did he try to feint the left and land the round. He was utterly predictable. Moreno was impressive, which made for a enjoyable fight. Next bout gets better IB.

I had it 119-108 for Moreno as well, only giving Vic Round 5. And I had Mares beating Agbeko 117-111.

    A third through...

    Mares vs. Agbeko II

    Round 1

Mares is using good movement, landing jabs and right hands. Agbeko is hooking his way in. Scrappy infighting. Mares getting better on outside.

    10-9 Mares

    Round 2

Quick jabs by Mares. Nice outboxing. Vicious exchanges. On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me...two hookers hooking... Damn. Solid rights by Mares, thrown almost as a right hook. Agbeko tries to duck his way inside behind his high guard, but not closing gap. Low blow Mares. Long jabs by Mares. Agbeko held outside. Good hooks outside by Mares. Agbeko misses his jabs high. Agbeko lunges out of position and is shocked by some hard chest and back punches from Mares.

    20-18 Mares

I guess there was a head clash? Mares cut, bad. Ooh, nasty. Corner of right eye. He is trying not to cry on his stool. Really, really bad cut. Blood seeping in and flowing onto his eyeball despite their efforts to control it. That has got to sting.

    Round 3

Hard trading. Nice. Agbeko warned for pulling the head down. Final warning. Mares nice shoeshine. Agbeko is wildly hooking, missing. Bernstein correctly flags Agbeko as not a roundhouse specialist, he needs to throw straighter stuff. He just won't. Baffling. Maybe trying new tricks because his usual game got him screwed on the cards last time? Tough to say. Maybe he really believes in his hook and has been working on it in camp. It just isn't producing for him here.

    30-27 Mares

    Round 4

Mares circular movement & jabs. Agbeko lunges, misses. Body shots from outside by Abner. Wasted motion by Joe, waving arms around. Mares makes him miss and counters. Looking a lot like Moreno-Darchinyan, actually. Surprising to see Mares outbox Agbeko so badly. Very surprising. Agbeko looks as wild and sloppy as Darchinyan, and Mares almost as slick and elusive and quick as Moreno. Crazy. Agbeko is doing one thing well: jumping in and tapping Mares' eyelid with his jab, to make it bleed more. He isn't scoring more than Mares, but maybe this tactic can net long term results...

    40-36 Mares

Mares has ATG cutman Miguel Diaz working the corner. He is in good hands.

    Press row scoring through 4:
Kevin Baxter 39-37 Mares, Doug Fischer 40-36 Mares, Jairo Giraldo 39-37 Mares

Antonio Tarver 39-37 Mares, Al Bernstein 39-37 Mares

    Round 5

Agbeko is landing his jabs, coming forward. Shimmying his shoulders. Looking loose. Mares is still using movement, but not jabbing as accurately. Agbeko is getting in, grabbing and mixing it up. Exchanges. BIG left hooks both ways. Agbeko's was harder. Mares lands a big right.

Tough round. Dust-up. Agbeko made is his type of round, and won it. His first. His only case to be made for one so far.

    49-46 Mares

    Round 6

Good rights from outside by Mares. Agbeko is still mistakenly under the impression he can hook with Mares. Not so. Agbeko complains of a low blow, clutching his nuts.

    10-9 Mares

    59-55 Mares

They put some ice on his balls and some Q-tips up his nose. Agbeko is having a luxurious spa day, all in his between-round minute! :)

The replay shows yeah, Mares went low again. To his credit, he refrained from genital punches until almost the halfway point. :yep

    Press row @ halfway point:
    Baxter 59-55
    Fischer 60-54
    Giraldo 58-56
Bernstein ?? noncommittal - he says Mares is up, though.

    Round 7

Good jabs by Mares. Agbeko is waiting too long on the outside, not taking chances and not coming forward intelligently when he does. Agbeko erroneously thinks his minimal shimmying will confuse Mares as to which angle he's coming from. He erroneously thinks he can get close without jabbing. He erroneously thinks he can trade hooks with Mares. Agbeko is a character in the legend of Zelda, with one line. I AM ERROR.. Solid rights by Mares. Agbeko showing his good chin, but little else to cheer about.

    10-9 Mares

    69-64 Mares

Icy testicles again. Q-tips up the nose again, to the hilt. Hooray, fun times for Agbeko.

    Round 8

Long harpoon jabs by Agbeko. Mares starts to back further up to make him lunge more. Mares is caught by a right, and responds with that classic Mexican anger. Channeling Barrera. You going to hurt me? HOW ABOUT A NICE BIG COMBO IN YOUR FACE MOTHER****ER! Mares' cut is opening up, looks grisly. Agbeko is targeting it with his jab, cruel *******. Mares is getting shier. STIFF jab to the ripped up eyelid by Agbeko. Suddenly Agbeko has found his nice stiff jab. Good head movement by Agbeko too. Body shots by Mares. Clinch, infighting.

    10-9 Agbeko

    78-74 Mares

    Press row two thirds through:
    Baxter 77-75 Mares
    Fischer 78-74 Mares
    Giraldo 77-75 Mares
    Bernstein ?? Mares

    Round 9

Agbeko drops a level and shimmies. Hooks by Agbeko. BIG left hook by Mares. Agbeko hurt. Mares circles right. Good movement. Mares gives Agbeko a taste of his own medicine, pulling his head down (see Agbeko? That's how you retaliate to a repeated foul!) Mares is circling off wide, maybe protecting that cut eye. Still out-scoring Agbeko with his jab. Agbeko is still mincing that eyelid with his own jump-in jab, though.

    10-9 Mares

    88-83 Mares

    Round 10

They're clapping their hands together, watching each other from a few paces away. They look like a pair of cymbal monkeys.  Do they have an actual name? Anyone know what I mean? In the little shriner hats? ****, I'm three King-size sheets to the wind. Fluffy sheets, high thread count. Freshly washed, with fabric softener. Mmm, pleasant odor. Anyway, watching boxing. That's what I'm doing. Right. Agbeko is landing good jabs. Purposefully being an ******* (an Intentional Butt, if you will? Hah? Hah?), ripping up Abner's eye. 1-2 by Agbeko. Definitely an Agbeko round, throwing straight punches now. Mares is wearing a crimson mask, doing more pushing than punching while trying to create space and preserve his pretty little face.

    10-9 Agbeko

    97-93 Mares

The cut looks ****ing terrible. Diaz is doing his best, applying serious pressure with a q-tip but it's a big bleeder (despite being a small cut). Hard to keep under wraps. Huge glob of Vaseline, interesting choice. Not really massaged in like you often see, just a finger-scooping that was hastily slapped on there.

    Press row entering championship rounds:
    Baxter 95-95
    Fischer 97-93 Mares
    Giraldo 97-93 Mares
Bernstein - still mum. *****. Post your scorecard. WTF? I mean say it. Commentate it. Whatever. You know.

    Round 11

Lots of clinching and spinning around, thumping backs with bottom parts of fists. Tenderizing each other like slabs of meat. Agbeko is just watching Mares, stalking. Not coming in behind that jab as in his recent rounds of resurgency. BIG RIGHT HAND BY MARES. That right hand raped Agbeko's face, it was ****ing awesome. **** me running. GOD DAMN Mares is a powerful kid and his stamina in the 11th round here is just what the ****ing ****? I mean seriously

    10-9 Mares

    107-102 Mares

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! The eye is so bad!!! Mares looks like Muammar Gadaffi that day last month when he was getting dragged through the streets and stomped on. Except Mares is alive and winning a boxing match and not a recently deposed and murdered dictator. Other than that very similar

    Round 12

Agbeko is flinging his jab up but not snapping it. Mares is bashing with rights. Agbeko tries to hold. Mares hunts him down and jabs. Lots of clinching by Agbeko. High jabs missing by Agbeko. Mares wants to FIGHT. Agbeko goes for the eye but can't reach it. Get away from the jab, Agbeko. It's too late for that. Mares gets on his bike, since Agbeko won't trade with him. Now a BIG RIGHT by Mares. 1-2! More shots by Mares, raping Agbeko's face!!!! Underhand BODY SHOTS, both guys, as though they had candies in their bellies like little pinatas and they both have a sweet tooth. ****, MY belly hurts!! Stop hitting each other you mean nasty boys! Talk it out!

    10-9 Mares

    117-111 Mares

    Press row postbellum:
    Baxter 115-113
    Fischer 117-111
    Giraldo 117-111
    Bernstein 116-112
    Tarver 115-113

All three judges (Jonathan Davis, Glenn Hamada, & Steve Morrow) have 118-1110 Mares. Good scoring.

The HBO PPV was 100,000x better, but this was still a fun card. Worth staying up until 4am to catch up on (even knowing both results thanks to jerks who posted spoilers in the HBO PPV RBR thread)

Jim Gray's Staredown is a cute attempt to rip off & cash in on the success of Max Kellerman's Face-Off.

I kind of wish Max himself could chair a table (does that phrase make sense? I swear it ought to...) between Ward and Froch. That would be compelling TV.

Maybe it's because it's late, or possibly due to the alcohol I consumed this evening, but I got the impression from reading this RbR that this is the way Hunter S Thompson would have covered this fight .Or Douglas Adams, had he jst finished reading a whole bunch of Hunter S Thompson. :good

    Either way....Awesome read, IB!

On the non-TV undercard, I see Frankie Gomez and Sakio Bika both stopped their opponents in three rounds...and Omar Henry had a 2nd round technical draw. (Omar Henry? Didn't he **** off to do MMA instead of boxing?)

The result of Eric Morel vs. Jose Silveira hasn't been updated yet on Boxrec.

    Does anybody know?

Please, please put the cherry on top of this already delicious ice cream boxing sundae that this Saturday (and early Sunday) has been. :thedevil1 Tell me Morel got KTFO. Beaten, at least. Please.

Well, that's no fun. I had the same exact score and same rounds for Moreno-Darchinyan.

Mares-Agbeko I agree on the score, we just got there different ways.
