If he can beat a Brion, Bivins, and Savold, he can beat an Arreola, Chageav, and a Peter for damn sure. Definetly an upper top 10 player as he was in the 50s, but he would lose to Wlad and probably even Vitali. Haye might run for his life against him and get a dull decision.

Louis would still be top 5.

Checkout this film of a 37 year old Joe Louis

As you see, despite his limited speed, he could still put the hurt on you big time with his punches, and he would still have one of the best jabs the division had to offer. He also had 17 years of ring experience. He would be a difficult fighter for young upcoming fighters to outpoint. I do not see him beating the upper echelon of heavyweights(Wlad Klitschko) but he could definitely sneak wins over quite a few top 10 fighters.

Outside of Wlad Klitschko, I don't see a heavyweight today with a better jab than this.

The smaller guys had the best time with Louis. They were able to get away from him in tough spots and exploit his slower, conservative footwork (Conn, Walcott, etc). There is also a difference in how one got a KO in Joe's era too, you really had to KTFO someone cold to get a stoppage, damage/accumulation KO's aren't the same. Case in point, Arturo Godoy's face.

Vitali is NOT a stronger one hitter than Louis. With accounts like this from modern sources and his contemporaries, the blatantly evidence from film, do you really think a guy like Vitali is a harder puncher, prime for prime? He KTFO'd guys with great chins, that much is obvious. I'll agree that Vitali is bigger and probably has more physical strength as a result, but Louis is obviously the more concussive, accurate, and powerful puncher in single shots and combinations.

I agree. Joe's game was based primarily on his ability to put fast combos together, and by the age of 37 he was struggling to decision fringe contenders and journeyman. I personally think that a guy like Eddie Chambers could have outslicked an aged Louis to a points win.

  6. yes he is, louis got better combinations but vitali is the harder puncher with a single shot

  7. i was talking on size(weight) not height, BUT ANYWAY HE WAS A MIDGET IN ANY AREA COMPARED WITH VITALI

what the **** has vitali got to do with farr outweighing louis ??

  12. well, it does not demonstrate nothing, they didn´t have the same rivals, vitali probaly would have destroyed every rival of louis, probaly marciano included.

  13. we are talking on joe louis vs vitali klitschko. Are you drunk?
