Watch live on www.wbcboxing.tv Starting things off is an 8 rounder between Jesus Santillan and Genaro "Poblanito" Garcia. I won't be covering this one, as I'm already committed to the Costa Rican card but the main event is about to start and shouldn't overlap with any more of this card than just this opening bout. This bout wasn't listed on the card on Boxrec, but here are their pages for anyone unfamiliar: Santillan http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=201030&cat=boxer Garcia http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=007734&cat=boxer
For being out of the ring for 2+ years, Poblanito is looking OK. OK as in not terribly rusty or unable to pull the trigger. He's still slugging on even terms with a novice possessing a losing record. :yep
The point-blank uppercuts of Garcia have been the best work done by either man through two rounds. Both landing a good deal, not much defense either way.
Stoppage as Garcia was unloading uppercuts on Santillan against the ropes. Bit of a quick stoppage, but whatever. Santillan was out of his depth. Midway in the 3rd round.
Crap stoppage but it was only a matter of time Garcia was rocking him pretty often and that outcome seemed inevitable anyhow.
The theme of today around boxing cites is that "no one is fighting today." Sosa was a top 10 flyweight going into the Pong clash and has had a totally good career. Do people not know who he is? As for Garcia, look at his last five opponents: prime Hasegawa, streaking Perez, M. Roman, prime Nishioka, (maybe when it's all said and done) prime Vazquez Jr.
Female boxing on now. Yesenia Castrejon vs. Esmerelda Moreno, 10 rounds for the WBC Silver light flyweight title.
I'm not sure how this pinoy qualifies as an opponent for Sosa or a contender for his WBC International title. Sosa is ranked #2 by the WBC. Golez isn't even in the top 40.
