Quijano is 13-2-1 (9), and Gallo is 18-4-1 (10).

 

Round 1

Wow, slugfest!! Indescribable, all the leather flying around. Gallo is backed up to the ropes under heavy fire but is getting his own shots in. Almost mirror images, throwing nonstop overhands both ways. Quijano's are maybe just a bit heavier but their output is virtually identical. Both landing a lot. Damn. Quijano pushes Gallo to the opposite ropes and keeps working with hooks to the head and overhands across the neck and shoulders. Gallo fights back gallantly, throwing the exact same shots - and just about as fast, hard and accurate. They can not possibly keep this pace up for ten rounds. This is straight up loco.

Round 2

Gallo pumps his jab up into Quijano's chin and has him backing up to the ropes in a little role reversal from R1. Gallo coming on strong, pouring shots in with both hands. Quijano skirts off the ropes but backs up to another set. Quijano is trying to get cute on the outside, slipping punches and jabbing. Gallo just comes forward, no-nonsense, throwing hard. Quijano dances around, wisely stays off the ropes and pops his jab. The referee interrupts to hoist up Quijano's sagging trunks. The fact that these are super flyweights and the referee is a normal size man makes it look like a father pulling up his toddler's pants. "There ya go, son". Gallo keeps chasing Quijano around the ring and catches him with a good hook that gets him running faster.

Round 3

Toe to toe action again, both landing with big hooks. Quijano is warned by his daddy (the official) to keep his shots above the belt. Damn, huge right hand by Gallo landing flush but Quijano took it well. Gallo chases his quarry across the ring and Quijano leans back against the ropes just long enough to regroup and get his gloves up before bouncing off of them and launching his own high volley at Gallo's face. They settle down and circle a bit. Gallo tries a jab and Quijano counters over it with his own. Quijano the better outside boxer. Quijano has turned southpaw seamlessly, barely noticeable. Throwing nice right jabs. Now some nice combos by Quijano, working from body up to head. Excellent finish by Quijano. Stole that one.

Round 4

Gallo hangs his jab out to dry, not really snapping it or following through. Now some right hands just lobbed across casually. Quijano is circling well outside, popping right jabs from a southpaw stance. Quijano really effective as a lefty. Good straight left hands to the face and body. Quijano circles past the ropes, and shimmies side to side as Gallo throws straight slow punches. Lead left by Quijano. This switch to southpaw has really flummoxed Gallo and left him at a loss. He pushes in and gets Quijano up against the ropes, and diligently works the body. Good rally by Gallo. Quijano circles away and pops more right jabs, now a left uppercut. 1-2, and a right hook by Quijano Gallo is pushed back to the ropes but fights back with several consecutive hard right hands. Quijano blocks most of them. Quijano slips a jab and lands a lead left from his hip.

Round 5

Gallo is doing well here, flapping his left around in Quijano's face to blind him and then powering through with hard right hands. The rights are all connecting and making Quijano buckle a bit. Quijano is trying to get outside and box behind his left jab (now orthodox again) but Gallo is all over him, force-feeding him right hands. Quijano is keeping his hands down inexplicably, and barely moving his head - trusting his defense to his feet when he isn't moving that much faster than Gallo. More flutter jabs and right hands stuffed in the face of Quijano by Gallo.

Round 6

Uppercuts to the face by Quijano while backing up. Gallo just chugs them down and throws with bad intentions to the body. Quijano is pushed back to the ropes and has his middle drummed on. Hard stuff by Gallo. Big right hands over the top. Quijano flees to the next set of ropes. BIG left hook lands for Gallo. Right hand through the guard by Gallo. Quijano turns southpaw out of desperation and works some long right jabs and straight lefts. Now Quijano circles right out to the middle of the ring and starts to box with straight shot and right upper-hooks. Meanwhile Gallo is flipping uppercuts up into his face. Long clinch, both are exhausted.
