    What ever happened to him?

For those unfamiliar: he was a tough, rangy southpaw contending in the middle to late part of last decade. He didn't hit thunderously hard, but he could land quick, sneaky, stinging shots with either hand. He used a lot of movement but preferred to keep his circuits close enough to mix it up. He had good defensive instincts but no qualms about taking hits in the line of duty, so he could be found. Especially a sucker for the straight right. Overall he wasn't an action hero but could produce sparks with the right opponent.

He is perhaps most well known for having twice gotten in the ring with a prime Jeff Lacy yet never being convincingly defeated (barely getting out of the gate for a non-conclusive 2nd round No Decision against a pre-Calzaghe Lacy, and then getting robbed against a freshly rebounding post-Calzaghe Lacy who reportedly wasn't 100% health-wise and still battled hard, but in no way deserved the win).

He had a few wins in the C+/B-/B range in Kodzoev, Adamu, Magee, Bozic, & Gogiya. His highest tangible decoration of achievement in the sport was a vacant Euro belt, and he never even challenged for a world title. Interestingly, he was slated to face Robert Stieglitz in a 2008 eliminator but had to drop out and be replaced by none other than Librado Andrade. Had it been Tsypko who (presumably) beat Stiegltiz, we would never have had Bute vs. Andrade I and of course not II. It would have been Tsypko earning the chance to lose to Bute. Or, with styles making fights - is it possible the veteran southpaw could have sprung the upset on the greener one? :think Food for thought.

At one point he was among the top four pound for pound boxers from the Ukraine (pre-Vitali Klitschko comeback, it was pretty much 1. Wladimir 2. Kotelnik 3. Sidorenko 4. Tsypko)

He was last seen on the vanquished side of a war with Librado Andrade in Quebec, which was the hoop Andrade had to jump through in his new adopted home-away-from-home to get his rematch with Lucian Bute. (thorny rose that turned out to be)

I know he was injured against Andrade, but don't remember him ever announcing retirement. That was three years ago.

    :?

He was tentative to fight in 2011 around April-Mayish but that never came through do to nagging injuries. Haven't heard any news since so I don't think he has officially retired, but his body is breaking down. After the shoulder injury he took some time off to heal that. Wanted to stay in shape though, but I think he pulled some hip muscles....or a hamstring. Not quite sure on that...something to do with the upper leg, hip area, but anyway the doctors said either rest or surgery. He didn't fancy having surgery, so, decided to rest. And going back to the top he was penciled in to fight in the middle of 2011, but that never went through. And haven't heard anything since. So, I guess he's still in a wait and see process. He wanted to get back in the ring, but the body isn't cooperating.

I remember seeing the Lacy fight. I totally felt he won that fight too!. Got robbed, but then this guy isn't a name, so who cared? Lacy was **** in that fight and got outclassed. That would have been the end of him, but of course Lacy went on to fight Roy Jones and others to prolong his career. But he was pretty much damaged goods by this point.

Yeah had wondered about Tsypko now and then.
