The old man just keeps refusing to go quietly into that goodnight. Six years since resurrecting his career on the second season of The Contender (ultimately winning the whole thing to become the nominally ironic "Contender Champion") he's continued to rage against the dying of a light. It's been a busy schedule for a man of his years - and except for KO1 victim Reggie Nash, there hasn't been a bum in the bunch. Just last night, he beat Edvan Dos Santos Barros by decision in an 8-rounder at 41 years of age. DSB had an even record heading into the battle, and most of his losses have been to at least decent fighters. (the best among them being Mike Alvarado, Luis Collazo, and Jesus Soto Karass). Brewer bettered Dos Santos Barros six rounds to two, on all three judges' cards at home in Oklahoma. This snapped a two-loss streak. A few years back, Grady had the opportunity to parlay his then-recent successes (both pugilistic and in raising his profile on well-rated reality TV) into a likely career payday against Winky Wright. That fell through. He wound up instead landing less lucrative but still important dates with three of the games hottest prospects: Erislandy Lara, Boo Boo Andrade, and Fernando Guerrero - going 1-2 against them. What's there for him to fight for now? What's his ceiling? How big a payday can he hope for? Is he gunning for...a title? :blood
I know he beat down Guerrero(which shocked me), but who else? All in all he has some decent victories. Bundrage, Guerrero, etc. Don't know if he'll get a title shot though. Never know.
IB sure loves him some Brewer. But I can't blame him, what's not to like about a journeyman who defies the odds like Brewer?
Brewer beat up Guerrero and knocked him out in four rounds. Lara dominated Brewer and knocked him out in ten rounds. Andrade won a wide decision over Brewer.
I oughta qualify that question IB. I meant out of the 3 guys you mentioned. Lara, Guerrero and Andrade.
