The gold-tint-bespectacled in-ring interviewer for TV Max is speaking with German Jurado, the victor by kayo in a 6-round lightweight bout the finished up just before the broadcast started. They're showing highlights. Lots of rabbit punches, but a nice mixture of head and body punches in the clinch as well.

Pretty long interview for a (mostly) non-televised six-rounder, but I couldn't tell you what they're saying. :conf

 

Yep, but he has a couple of solid wins.

 

Miguel Callist vs. Carlos Guevara, 8 rounds @ light welterweight

 

Apparently this is the fourth bout of the evening (my Spanish is good enough to hash out that much at least :yep).

That means of seven bouts on the card, less than half was non-televisd. Not bad.

 

Round 1

Callist gets out and starts to pop his southpaw jab. Guevara lunges up with bottle-rocket right hands which Callist easily steps back from and counters with the right jab and long reaching left on the back foot. Guevara wedges himself up against Callist after falling in with right hands and they shove into each other a bit, jockeying for position. Callist work the body as Guevara tries to stuff some short jabs in his face but misses. Good body work by Callist. Guevara flips his arms down low back at him, but is throwing with less force and accuracy.

Round 2

Clinch up, and body shots traded. Callist is backed up into a corner as Guevara swings wildly with plunging shots with both arms fully extended and locked at the elbow. Now Callist drills Guevara with some body shots and drives him back across the ring. Guevara just bows his head forward into his tight guard and takes the punishment. More body shots from Callist, a few blasts to the head mixed in! Getting everything he wants - including the TKO as the referee pulls Guevara away into a protective embrace!

 

Yeah, you don't usually see someone stopped on body shots without a knockdown. :think

 

If anything, they robbed Miguelito of a more satisfying and legitimate knockout. I don't think Guevara was taking eight full rounds of that anyway.

 

BTW, @ a guy pushing forty going by "Miguelito" (the English equivalent would be "Lil' Mikey").
