The Patterson that fought Ali in the second fight was still formidable. He also had the style to get to Wlad.

Patterson was 37 in that fight.

In all seriousness, a motivated well trained Sonny Liston has the reach, strength and jab from hell to bust up Wlad Klitschko, even at age 38.

Sonny Liston wouldn't beat Klitschko at 28 let alone 38. This guy is one of the most overrated fighters in the history of pugilism.

When watching Sonny Liston move in the ring, I honestly can't see much of a speed difference between him and Valuev. I actually think he may be about the same foot speed as Valuev.

His footwork, defence and punching accuracy were absolutely atrocious. Not a good punch selection either, mostly just poorly timed sloppy inaccurate wide hooks and uppercuts.

If Valuev fought all the bums, sub cruisers and glass chins that Liston did, he would look like an unbeatable powerpunching superman as well I suspect.

Liston had power but not much else.

He wasn't a big guy, only being 6'0 1/2 tall and about 198-212 pounds during his physical prime in the mid to late 50's. He would actually wear many towels under his robe to appear much bigger than he was to scare opponents.

This would make him one of the few lightest opponents WK has ever faced.

His jab was ok but it lacked much of the snap and speed of a Holmes or a WK jab.

His 84 inch reach was a proven fabrication. When he fought Leotis Martin it was measured by the NSAC at 80.5 inches ( I suspect it was truly 2 or 3 inches shorter than that).

So we have a guy here who is basically the same size as Chris Byrd minus the speed, reflexes, defence and footwork.

You think the 38 year old, bloated version of Sonny Liston who around this time was brutally knocked out by 199 pound featherfist Leotis Martin would beat WK??

When he fought Ali he was about 33 years old. His performance against Ali was not much of a departure from what he was doing earlier in his career.

Wlad beats them all... With the exception of Vitali.

George backed up everyone. I don't believe Wlad fights well going backwards. Also, George has a granite chin, unlike Wlad. Foreman was pretty quick that night he defeated Cooney. I do not believe that Gerry was washed up that night. He was in great shape actually and came to fight. George, in that fateful second round barely missed a punch.

Foreman was out to make a statement that night he defeated Cooney. To prove he could beat someone who was a legitimate heavyweight during his comeback. Same as Wlad when he fought tough against Pulev. He was out to prove he could get into a real fight, same as he did early in his career, and not just play safety-first as he had in his more recent bouts.

Yes, Wlad has power, but so too does George. Yes, Wlad has a great jab. George has a great jab too. Physically George has better stamina, great balance, will to win, iron chin, constantly comes forward with no fear.

Also, Wlad wouldn't be able to tie up George and lean on him as he does his other opponents. Foreman would unleash uppercuts that would send Wlad's head into orbit.

Wlad would soil himself should he dare set foot in the same ring with Foreman.

Slow as molasses 90's Foreman wouldn't even land a punch of Wlad... Get real, aside for the lucky punch he landed on Moorer he looked like absolute **** against any HW that was remotely decent.

actually this is a category in which Wlad excels, because of his great preparation and longevity.

Whatever the limits of Waldo, one thing he has done very well is keep himself in excellent condition, hes basically in the body of a 34 year old, postprime today. Theresfore, against a 38/39 year old Parkinsons ridden Ali, fattened retired Marciano, by then blind alcoholic FRazier, unfit movie star life Dempsey, weak chinned Patterson without his fast hands, uncommitted, disinterested Tyson - Wlad outpoints them, and even stops a few.

The ones that will still certainly beat him at that stage would be Johnson, who also aged slow, evergreen and highly skilled Holmes, 50% but still deadly 37/38 year Lewis who killed Vitali before half time, possibly old Louis if he finishes wlad before Louis gasses out (after all he was arguably ahead of Marciano till his lungs went), and probably the still bone crunching Foreman, given walds poor chin. Also figure in Liston, who was probably nearly 40 when he fought Ali, and was still steamrolling his opposition, would likely bowl wlad out in 1 round well before the now unfit liston gassed his pistons.

Shhh, such factual information is not always appreciated here. The truth is Foreman likely lost a fight to Alex Stewart in 1992. Foreman's face was a mess at the end. Big George was badly rocked by journeyman Ken Lakusta.

Wlad would have a field day. So who beat Wlad at age 38? Outside of his brother and maybe Lennox Lewis, that's about it.

Wlad has far more left at age 38 in comparison to Louis or Ali.

People bringing up Foreman against Moorer and Stewart aren't considering that Foreman wasn't 38 in those fights. Against Moorer, he was 45. Who knows what Wlad would look like in the ring SEVEN YEARS from now.

When Foreman turned 39, he fought Guide Trane. Foreman had worked off the rust after a decade out of the ring, and he was in good shape in that bout.

Here's a link. His hands are fast. He throws quick combinations. His feet are quick. He cuts off the ring easily. His jab is strong and impressive.

Wlad vs. Foreman at 38/39 is a pretty even fight.

I also say Foreman all night.

Oldest Heavyweight champion ever , no fear of anyone in his comeback ,
duck no one , still a Punching machine , very durable + good Wins ,
honorable loses to a Prime Holyfield and controversial los to Briggs

He would Knock out Wlad or would lost by UD.
Dont see Wlad Knockout Foreman , not even drop him.

And young Foreman i still say Foreman Win by KO in the first Round any Day , put all my money on George.

hmm interesting - the klittards aren't objecting to my posts when they support wlad...only when they criticise him....

..and then they scream "you racist!"

but nothing when I plump for Wlad..how come I can write that if if I'm racist?
I get it, klittards get mad when they cant find a counterargument, and shout 'racist' instead.....
